Greetings from a Clemson fan....

Haven't followed the religious slant. All I know is our coach speaks very highly of Dabo and is complimentary of how he treats his Clemson staff and players.

One of the commentators compared Dabo to PJ Fleck, and I agree, they're both different, far different than say Nick Saban; I get that part of it. Dabo is exuberant, and I think part of that is because there was some abuse in his childhood, and given where he is now, he's seen life from the other side, and I think that makes him very appreciative of his life now...

"Dabo. love him or hate him" thread: He's been criticized on a national level because of his religion by a journalist from the Atlanta Journal Constitution (who is Jewish), and by an atheist group known as the "Freedom From Religion Foundation". and also by several fan groups known as the Buckeyes and the Gamecocks. But that seems to be about it....
Dabo saved the ACC...for now. A ton of pressure on him and Clemson to remain elite.

Pretty much agree; for a multitude of reasons FSU and Miami cannot not get going again.....
Who’s your rival in conference? Obviously the gamecocks take up a lot of hate but I’m wondering who is second in that category since you guys have dominated, for the most part, the ACC for the last half decade.

We hate Texas. With OU right behind them. But then it’s probably KState as a “rival” going forward although that is kind of a rival in a different sense of the word. Also, no one in the Big 12 will generally root for Baylor. That place is a corrupt sewer.

I would never make that comparison.
Dabo has won titles and appears very grounded in doing so. Fleck only has a 'row the boat' trademark to his name, and comes off as God's gift to college football.

Texas is disliked because they control the conference due to their financial superiority and their entitled attitude even though their on field performance is mediocre. On the other hand, Oklahoma wins. I don’t hate OU. Iowa is our only rival. Until Snyder, K-State was at a level beneath KU today. I feel that if Campbell hangs around like Grundy has, that Okie St will become a rival.

You should hate OU. They’ve been angling to leave the Big 12 for a decade and took UT with then. 1100 AM kickoffs lmao. What a little ***** fanbase they are.

Yes, SEC fans do take the conference thingy to another level, which makes almost zero sense, and I know this from having to deal with SC fans. What good in the world does it do SC's FB program for Alabama and the SEC to be powerhouse types? Since joining the SEC in 1991, SC has exactly *1* SEC division FB title (and lost in the title game to Auburn 56-17) and exactly *ZERO* SEC conference titles. 30 years of futility just to chant "SEC, SEC!" at Clemson games.....:).

When SC, or Kentucky, or Ole' Miss (or just about anybody in that conference) shout "SEC! SEC!" what they should be shouting is "ROLL TIDE!".

Or alternately, "THANK YOU MR. SABAN!"

I'd say Florida State is Clemson's biggest ACC rival, but SC is our biggest rival overall. Georgia is another rival, but since UGA decided to end the series in the early 90's, it doesn't have the impact that it once did. Oddly, perhaps, is a strange rivalry with Georgia Tech, due in some large part that GT refused to play us at Clemson until 1974 I think it was; Clemson fans consider them a snobbish bunch. Every Clemson vs. SC game was played at SC's home field from 1896 until 1960, if you can believe that, until Clemson finally tired of it and the games went to a home and home basis....

Gives new meaning to the Phrase "top heavy conference": Ole Miss won their last SEC title in *1964*, Miss State in 1942, Kentucky in 1977, Arkansas, Missouri, Vanderbilt, Texas A&M and SC have never won one, it's Bama and everyone else...

I give them credit for having 3.5 programs having won a NCs "recently". LSU, UF, Bama, and kind of Auburn. Although three of those programs have also hit hard times in between.

The SEC is obviously a good football conference, but it is easier to be good when you get every benefit of the doubt. Making the playoffs and title game (in the old system) is the hardest part, and UGa can back-in with a suspect SOS..

Very nice chatting with everyone over here; hope the stadium is full and no player injuries. Here are my final thoughts on the game, from an almost 100% Clemson perspective; my gut tells me this will be a close game. Our QB has simply not progressed since game one, and it's difficult to believe this will be his breakout game, just can't see it, even as much as I want it to be. Our defense is solid, but if our O can't sustain a few lengthy drives, I fear the D will wear out. If we don't turn the ball over, if our special teams can deliver, if our O line can open a few holes for our RBs, if our QB can play smart..........so many if's, Clemson might, just might win it. If Clemson wins, I will not come back here and gloat, but if Iowa State wins, I will come back and congratulate you guys, no excuses from me..........have a great time everyone!

Nice chatting and hearing from you also. I have enjoyed hearing about Clemson from a great fan perspective. Also hoping for a good and safe, game from both sides!

Clemson I think will have many advantages including perhaps the higher rated players overall and the more recent success and the experience/culture that comes along with that. The level that Clemson has attained is something that we only dream about and is something that maybe we might be able to partially attain in a great year, or maybe on a rare occasion to be honest. Our present coaching staff gives us that hope anyway.

For Iowa State to have a chance they will have to take some chances, play unpredictable, especially on offense, do what the other team does not expect. This is something that has troubled this team over the recent past, play calling, especially this year. Sometimes it is good but the consistency is questionable.

And we will be without our star running back Breece Hall, whom we all love and feel should stay out and stay healthy, get ready for the NFL. Our back up running backs are a big unknown in a large game however. They could surprise in a good way or be a significant dropoff.

If Clemson wins, you can still come back so we can discuss the game. I think you have demonstrated that you won't gloat. There are a lot on here who would still like to have a civil discussion of the game even if ISU loses.

Here's to a fun game with no injuries...

You’re a solid chap. Welcome anytime.

I think we might see a game similar to our OU game. Close and nip and tuck and probably playing from behind most, if not all, of it. There will be trick plays and wrinkles trying to get the ball moving to, in some ways, cover up the loss of Breece Hall. (Although I think this will be over played as Jirehl is very, very capable back up who likely would be RB1 in many places) Our D can be weirdly suspect at unexpected times but I’ve seen enough to think this likely won’t happen. I expect Purdy to play one of the best games of his career and want to go out with a bang. If he doesn’t have any of his “What the ****, Brock?!?!?” moments that he’s capable of (again, see OU game) we will have a shot late. It will be close.
