Greetings from a Clemson fan....

Its down, but Miami and Florida State are both a good coach away from being back. Plus VA Tech is usually solid.

How many coaches has Miami been saying that for now? Florida St is turning over coaches faster than Texas now. Virginia Techs success is tied entirely to one coach.

So, you're a Navy guy? I believe ISU is the only institution in the state with NROTC. Say, we could have a battleship 'game' too, maybe? USS Iowa:

Our coach, Matt Campbell, had some very nice things to say about Clemson the other day. (Guys, didn't Venables come to ISU a few years ago to explore our 3-3-5 defense? And, it looks like CMC has traveled to Clemson, too.)

USS Iowa
Isn’t that a Missouri class battleship?

I love that this thread is a blend of **** Iowa dialog and in-depth discussion about the upcoming game. My wife and I honeymooned in South Carolina and really enjoyed talking with the locals about Clemson and college football in general. They seem like a very similar fan base to us, just without the national championships

Dude shut up. This guy is being cool and you are being a *******.

Could not care less what another fan base thinks of us. You hear a lot of good things about Alabama fans or Ohio St or Oklahoma fans? The only fan bases other fans like are those of ****** teams who consistently lose. We’re going to go down there, drink that place out of Busch Light, kick Clemsons ass and get out of there.

Pete Fiutak has ISU winning as his prediction. However, it's his least confident pick of all 43 bowl games. Seems about right, if you ask me.

Please stop using 'us'. ISU fans have class. You clearly don't.

Other way around. The USS Missouri (and USS Iowa) are Iowa class battleships.
He's rubbing it in.

I pester Cyclad and my other great friend with Iowa Class updates, and they both call 'em Missouri Class . . . the Iowa was expected to be the surrender ship until FDR died and that upstart from the Show Me state succeeded him.

We were in the US Navy together, NAS Lemoore, California (1985-1989), marriage still holding...:). I don't know that much about the rivalry between Iowa/Iowa State......is it that heated? Our biggest rival is of course SC, and the roots of the hatred are sometime a city vs. a country school kind of thing; is the State/Iowa rivalry similar?
Out of Stater now but ISU grad. If I get any of the following is wrong, hope to be corrected. >> Iowa State and Iowa both are AAU accredited and research schools. Iowa State is a land grant school, heavy in Engineering, Vet Medicine, Agriculture, Design, Business, Liberal arts, etc., Big 12 member. // Iowa is a Med School, Business, Law School, Liberal Arts, etc., Big 10 member.

ISU campus much prettier (IMO), segregated nicely from city and traffic. ISU students and fans of course are more intelligent and worldly. Many rabid Iowa fans we might call Wal-mart fans or Tavern Hawks and did not actually attend 'their' school (seems like a high percentage anyway). They appear intellectually challenged. There is not much love lost between the two schools when competing athletically. Iowa fans are often snooty, entitled, arrogant, boastful, insolent, superior, condescending, lacking of the social graces. Not all of them of course but JMO otherwise.

Iowa has the greater athletic budget and resources financially, but Iowa State is/was catching up (getting ready to fall behind more now due to lower media package agreements of Big 12 vs. Big 10/SEC, etc.)(I'm sure you are well aware of all this).

There might be some analogy to the smaller, more rural (Clemson/Iowa State), vs. larger, big city (South Carolina) rivalry you alluded to. Although Iowa City (Univ. of Iowa) certainly not a large city.

Hoping for a great game, and a healthy one for the athletes. If Iowa State does not play conservative and predictable (a problem this year) I'm hoping for a 34-27 I-State victory. Maybe Venables being gone now will hurt the Clemson D?

Will Venables be coaching in the game? If not who will be taking his place?

If you have ESPN+ check out the last 15 minutes of the wrestling match. It pretty much sums up why we hate those mouth breathers.

Correct. They will be “fine” because they play in a garbage conference, nothing more than that though.
And you are thumping your chest because your team is a Big 12 member. Admirable but not recommended.

Really could care less what you do or are going to do. Hope you don't get anyone killed.

TII

Total ignorant idiot. Sorry.
