Sorry, but what a dumb statement. The highest paid DC right now is $2.5MM (Venables). Basically the floor for a P5 HC new hire is $3MM now; that’s what McGuire got from Tech. Obviously we pay Campbell more than that and if we extend him this offseason he’ll probably be around $4.5MM.

i think the B1G Kool Aid got to your head because MSU can pay Tucker $10MM to get his s**t kicked in by Ryan Day, but we can still pay head coaches more than coordinators here in the little old Big 12.
Very surprising a Spartan fan would be so ignorant

Ok…I received an email with a post from Chris Williams about CMC and Notre Dame. Now it’s not in the system that I can see. Did the mods delete him too?

As someone already mentioned get ready for that to change. Notice how every new hire is making 10mil plus a year? Coordinator massive eases are coming next. Grab a young stud DC who can recruit like him and he could easily go for 4/5mil at a big school.

Highest paid. For now. Get ready for that to change.
Regardless, anywhere but the very highest is likely to be below. There’s about one or two places in which he could be even, and the he’d be going there because he lost out on the job to a P5 HC.

Not exactly sure.

The 5th highest paid HC in the big ten is 5MM/year. So how many of these OC/DCs will be getting paid the same or more than 10-11 out of the 14?

I would expect all those numbers to be going up soon. There is just so much money coming into football right now for better or worse that the top 25 schools will be paying coordinators this soon enough.

This has been a fun read. It seems the general consensus is CMC is at best ND’s option C. And let me stress “at best”. Yet there is much talk here about who our next HC will be.

Let me use a “cyclone” analogy:

It’s like you learned of a major tornado outbreak may occur (watch). But you don’t know for sure if you will be directly affected by any storm. Why panic/fear now? Wait until total destruction is imminent. However, the far more likely scenario is your property won’t be damaged.
