I come in from the west so it would affect me, but overall I think it will be a good thing especially for grass lot people. I also think it will look nice with the stadium. Anything that makes us look like a big boy program i can't complain about.
10 million bucks to make us “look like a big boy program” though?

95% of pedestrian traffic will dodge cars frogger style rather than climb up and down 3 flights of stairs.

There will be a fence along University to prevent pedestrian crossing anywhere between S. 4th and S. 16th.

And it's a straight shot from G7/RV to the east gate -- no stairs.

Regarding the bridge, I have it on fairly good authority the idea is more of offering a grand entrance to Iowa State driving under the bridge rather than offering a place for pedestrians to walk to Jack Trice 6 times a year.

Serious question: what are people's take on this bridge? I know a guy that is SUPER pissed about this "Bridge to Nowhere".

Seriously?

I think the bridge is a good place for 'Clone fans to jump from.

This season. We were underdogs in Camping World to a very good ND team. We were potential CFP contenders this season with pre-season #7 rating. Plus the season resulted in several disappointing close losses where the team looked unsure in critical situation like the 2 point conversion failure that was a disaster from the beginning. Going under center when you never go under center.

Campbell would be fired at ND with the results we had versus expectations.
This. And in the Pollard interview, he mentioned other little things (wearing black uniforms) that he couldnt do at other, bigger, schools.

I don't think it's the most necessary thing in the world, and given Covid budget issues and conference revenue uncertainty, it probably doesn't happen if it hadn't already been announced two years ago. But that said, whatever...I don't care.

But I'm curious what this guy hates about it so much.

The bridge is just your entrance to the rest of an unbelievable plan to renovate this side of Iowa State. If you haven’t seen the entertainment district portion Jamie’s trying to implement, Google it.

There will likely be new parking for RVs as early as next year.

Next step would be filling in the old donor/RV lots with some sweet entertainment buildings.

Its going to be awesome, and people who are against it are against modernizing anything, yell at children who step on their lawn, and have zero happiness

It seems to me that we have a significant divergence of goals between many opinions posted on a free message board and Matt Campbell. Admittedly Matt has different goals than most head coaches whose goals (championships and records) more consistent with those posted by free message board members.

I have heard Matt say that he wants to develop young men into the best man, husband, and father they could be; more than once. I have not heard him say he wants to play in the Play-offs every year. I have not heard Matt say that Notre Dame and Ohio State were his dream jobs but I have heard him say that his coaching idol coached many, many years in Div III (?) and that guy was immensely successful as evidenced by the life-successes of that guy's players.

Matt may be interested in the Notre Dame job but, if he is, I'm sure that mega bucks is not his lead concern. Matt would also want an AD and Administration that shared his values and goals. Frankly I could see a little problem there because if a recruit was focused on how much NIL he could get, Matt would not get in a bidding war for the recruit's services and would not regret the decision.

I think if you gave Matt a choice to chase a hundred dollar bill blowing in the wind or go talk to a former player whose wife has just had a baby, he'd take the former player every time and I think he will approach any job opportunities the same way.

Well ya duh, I would too if I already had thousands of hundred dollar bills in the Bank.

It's primarily, IMO, just something to be pissed about it and get stuck. He's one of those guys who thinks Jamie does "just an OK job". However, he would say that it is stupid to separate the RV lots from tent row because no one is now going to walk back and forth between them (like he does). So it cramps his style.
