Lincoln Riley was USC's top guy. That's not up for debate. Matt would have been some level of "back up option" for them.

My dad is a ND fan and I've always followed them. I don't like Urban at all but i would be thrilled if they hire him. Or, you know, anyone other than MC...

Was he for sure USCs top choice? I would think ND makes a hard play for Fickel. The last Cincy guy the hired worked for him. Could also see Urban Meyer. That would be a job he would be interested in.
