Matt Campbell is not leaving ISU. Period. He’s in it for the long haul. All the “rumors” are just a bunch of wishful thinking, and wanna be Twitter reporters trying to get a scoop. No need to worry.

I don't follow people's thread names to know if you are very in touch with what goes on around here, but I'll foolishly bite: How do you know this? Opinion, right? I felt the same way (at least not to LSU or USC who I thought were not 'good fits' for CMC), but after talking to a few people I trust today, there is sure alot of smoke that he's going to USC. Guess I'm trying to prepare myself.

If Coach Matt Campbell ever left I would still love him and would never be angry with him. He’s been a great coach for us. He saved us from depression from Paul Rhoads. If he leaves then I think ISU should hire Tom Herman or burst. I hope Campbell stays here for another 20 yrs like Ferentz.

With all the money that P5 schools are making, coaches no longer have to worry about being at a blue blood to really make some money. I tend to believe that the Big 12 is going to be fine money wise from the TV contract without UT and OU. Would Campbell or anyone's quality of life really improve that much making 8 to 9 million at LSU or USC as opposed to making 4 to 5 million in Ames? The money is great, but so is quality of life, and that is what ISU and Ames can offer him. We are not going to expect to win national championships here, just put a decent team on the field most years, the same cannot be said for the Blue Blood jobs, there, you either produce big time or you are gone. Just look at the LSU coach.

Whatever Campbell decides to do, ISU has never been in a better position facility, fan base and national presences wise, if he leaves, I would look strongly at the coach at Coastal Carolina.

Tom Herman ****** half our sorority girls while he was here with his wife. If we wanted someone like that, we might as well reach out to Scott Frost, too

I think Campbell stays but if he leaves i won't be mad just sad. Personally, I think Campbell has a chance to build his own Mt. Union here. He can built a legacy here and become the name of Iowa State. Just as many schools are associated with a certain coach of the past CMC can be that at Iowa State.

With the expanded playoffs winning the B12 will get you to the CFP. I think a CMC lead Iowa State can win the new B12. So I can't say that a championship at Iowa State is impossible.

I can understand the lure of USC, but I think Iowa State can offer a different kind of opportunity in terms of legacy and future. I don't want to fault a man for making a decision that he thinks is best for himself whatever happens. I would just love to see CMC become the legend and face of ISU football.

I always tell myself what you just wrote here. and I believe it to be very true.
The problem is it never seems to matter. Money and bigger programs/NFL always win out. I really hope MC sees all the coaches that took those jobs historically (and left a good situation) just to get fired a few years later.

Fans at ISU are good with 6-9 win seasons. The problem with this year is we had every reason to win 10+ games and we had a bunch of bad luck among some other things.

The season we are having this year gets you fired at those other places. just saying.....

I can’t tell if you’re joking or not.
I’m not joking, honest questions. I thought he was liked in Ames, granted he left for Ohio State then, but his own Texas did him bad, so to me he isn’t bad if he wants to continue what Campbell has done here. Plus Chris Williams loves him, so there’s that. He can also recruit big in Texas.

Yep. Even though we all had dreams of something bigger this year, no sane person is calling for Campbell to be fired. If anything it's time for another extension, as he still went above .500 for the year and in conference and was in every single game this year.

Herman has never been loyal to any school he’s ever coached at, and also never to the woman he married, but I don’t know why you guys don’t think he’d be loyal here!

Serious question: are you a troll? Or do you just know absolutely nothing about Tom Herman other than he coached here for a couple years?
