Campbell not going anywhere but home to his family

I AGREE Johnny Majors/ Earle Bruce INVENTED (Winning) Iowa State Football and Dan McCarney brought ISU Football, back from its DeathBed and into Natl Prominence ......
You could go back to Clyde Williams or the Dirty Thirty. McCarney had a good set of assistants, but after they left, he couldn't sustain success. I believe the rebirth under McCarney was more due to the administration finally putting a reasonable level of support into the program. Under Walden our facilities were outright pitiful.

Also splitting the conference and adding one more game. We lost the Okie schools every couple years and went to scheduling cream puffs also.

The colloquialism "x invented y" is meant to express the fact that x had an oversized impact on the success of y. I was not trying to literally suggest Mac singlehandedly put ISU on the map.

Truth be told there will be people saying Campbell invented ISU football for similar reasons.
What is fact is that before Campbell came here, many people were genuinely questioning whether ISU could EVER compete at a P5 level consistently.

Yeah there was some 'he's usually right' sort of stuff but nothing concrete.

Remember 3 months ago when ISU was going to the B1G?
That's not a great analogy. With the legal position defined by Bob Bowlsby -- most didn't expect anything regarding ISU to the B1G until this legal uncertainty was/is-yet-to-be cleared up. That ended for the time being any and all mention of this by people actually in the know.

Not only that, as a result of the legal and other related uncertainty, there probably isn't anything that could reported right now anyway. Anything concrete.

I get what you are saying in the first sentence, though.

I very much hope Coach Campbell stays, and I believe it more likely than not that he will. A big new wild card, however, is not only conference realignment -- but what everyone has learned since all this talk began again just this year. USC apparently holds the keystone in the Pac 12. They will continue to whether Campbell were to leave to coach there or not -- even regardless of the results on the field. But it sounds like there is a strong possibility that USC might be aligned with the B1G in the future.

Raise ticket price by $5/game. Allow alcohol at game. That would double his pay. Maybe have CF members buy/sell their used stuff on CF and donate the money to ISU FB. Can’t get merchandise in stores anymore anyway. Desperation mode is here.

I'm talking about how people on twitter were all about what was going to happen.

I think there are other reasons he wouldn’t pick the USC job bs other jobs or staying at ISU. CA homes are increasing in value ridiculously fast for the increasingly rare few who can afford one, it’s actually a money maker for a guy making millions to have his main real estate investment in CA, far outpaces any cost of living drag.

Property Taxes, upkeep and maintenance. Campbell would certainly have plenty of money. If you are buying a home because of speculation that prices will automatically keep increasing, you will eventually hit The point of the speculative bubble bursting.

Homes are a cost. Non-revenue producing asset. They may increase in value, but the next home will cost more as well. Realtor fees and closing costs are not cheap. People thinking a home will make them money is what leads to financial failure.

CMC: Do what’s best for you and your family. You’ve given your heart and soul to ISU and, literally, every ISU fan appreciates what you’ve done for our university and for the men on the field. You’ve transformed our program for the better and I’d be happy to donate for a statue of you. I hope Santa brings you a bag of gum for Christmas. Look into Invisalign. Go win a championship!

Like every investment, right time, right place (or company), and right price. But a couple of things to balance the portfolio are 'borrowing' power (easier for real-estate), liquidity (no comparison: stocks win), dual use (figure value against rent so net gain in real-estate), tax benefits (usually favors real-estate), and tax offsets (stocks win here). I did a detailed analysis back in the early 90's. I opted to 'rent' instead of buy and invested in stocks. Indiana Jones: I chose wisely. But, in life there are different timelines bringing different scenarios. So, one should always re-analyze when moving money. All that said: I've lived in CA. It's of my firm opinion CA real-estate is going to soon become a VERY risky investment. Especially, if you're in the upper income brackets.

Maybe you mean that “rent” is a cost. BTW home is where the heart is.

Honestly think Matt Campbell is staying but only Campbell knows for sure. Taking the USC job pretty much goes against all of the qualities and standards that Campbell has set for himself and his whole career. It would be like selling out himself for the money and prestige and compromising the way he has lived his entire life.

Campbell leaving for USC makes perfect sense to the World that thinks money should be the ultimate goal. But it doesn’t make much sense to those who know Campbell. That isn’t the way he conducts himself. Campbell does not have an agent.? Anyone who thinks Campbell is negotiating a deal with USC, (he does not have an agent) while Iowa State is preparing to play a football games, needs to reconsider. That is not the way Campbell conducts himself. Campbell is all about character and conduct. He does things the right way.
While I don’t think Campbell leaves, the agent thing is overrated. He didn’t have an agent at Toledo either, and we we still signed him as our head coach before the end of the season.

I think the agent part is more about USC claiming he does when he doesn’t (or assumed he doesn’t) which means the USC people don’t have any clue.
