Texas Tech fires FB Coach Matt Wells

For Pete’s sake. Fort Dodge:Iowa::Lubbock:Texas. It’s not a commentary on the SIZE of the town. And, well…

But as a Tech alum, I know Lubbock, too, so I have the authority to tell Wells that the grass literally will be greener. I’d remind him that he’s spent the past three years in as brown, flat, and hideous-looking a place as there is on Earth. On my first trip to Lubbock, I thought it looked like a whole lot of nuclear bomb tests had taken place there. I’d never lived anywhere that appeared so unlivable as Lubbock before or since. The most defensible thing Tuberville has said since his Tech firing came in 2017 when he was asked to describe the town: “It looked like Iraq.”

Texas Tech head coaching thread turns into discussion about comparing Lubbock to Fort Dodge or Council Bluffs. Never change CF.
If we can somehow incorporate an argument about Fred’s level of responsibility for the recruiting class gap after Montes class then we’ve checked all the CF boxes.

I’ve been to Lubbock but spent all my time outside the metro. I would rather spend time west of Fort Dodge than west of Lubbock. West of Lubbock is the only place I’ve seen a road sign that warns of blowing dust the next 25 miles. Now if it comes to in town Lubbock has to be better than Fort Dodge.

But can he take off from a treadmill

Having an undefeated NFL team says B12 championship to me. Kliff was young. He has charisma. He knows offense. He would have won in time. To suggest otherwise given his NFL record is preposterous borderline laughable.

So 6 years in, he showed zero aptitude to do it, at the actual school... but because of what's happened in 1/3 of an NFL season says otherwise? Give me a break.

NFL success is a great measurement of a college coach. Just ask Charlie Weis.

I think the concern here is:
1. They are likely going to lose out and end 5-7, 3 straight losing seasons.
2. Wells straight up showed lack of interest in being in Lubbock (can’t blame him, it’s like Mars). On their local radio show they asked him his favorite part of living in Lubbock and he couldn’t even name ONE!!
A lot of Texan's Call Lubbock....here it comes...."TUMBLEWEED CITY"....because their is nothing there except Tumbleweeds!!

It’s surly and they are on one so there is no reasoning at this point. I’ve tried, too.

I mean, how does a KSU fan watch the many officiating gifts in the Snyder "retirement" game and then, ever, complain about any sort of officiating?
