Yay! Another anecdotal evidence thread!
That said we've had a French Door LG for 7 years. Works like a charm, no issues, would buy again in a heartbeat.
Update: repair guy said he could fix the issue but it would cost about $450 parts and labor and it would be about a week on the part. My fridge temp was recording 60 degrees on the top shelf so I'll have to throw everything out. Mine has an ice maker in the bottom, but if I had ice maker up top for the door, they wouldn't be able to fix it. I guess a $450 dollar repair is cheaper than $3,000 for a new fridge.I started noticing a noise coming from my Samsung refrigerator yesterday. This morning I saw that there was a little bit of ice buildup on the back inside panel and it didn't feel quite as cold.
I called a repair place that works on Samsung and they said that the repairs they try are not guaranteed to work because Samsung doesn't know how to solve the issue and gives the repair people a list of things to try. Apparently there is a class action lawsuit going on regarding this issue.

Advice: I wouldn't recommend Samsung.
MY Brother-In-Law has a Samsung with the ice maker in the door. Had the same problem you described and also found out it's unfixable. The fridge came with the house they bought a couple years ago, so not a huge loss, really; just no ice maker anymore.Update: repair guy said he could fix the issue but it would cost about $450 parts and labor and it would be about a week on the part. I asked the repair guy what he would recommend for brands based on what he's had to repair and he said Maytag had the fewest problems and was what he would recommend.Maytag (which is really Whirlpool) side-by-side with ice maker and filtered water in the door. Have had it for 10 years and no problems. The water filters are a rip off, in 10 years the filters have cost $800 and I get the filters online from a discount filter company.![]()
We bought a new Maytag washer and a new Maytag dryer when we bought our house and they will be 20 years old next July, with not one problem. Also a bit later we bought a Maytag microwave/range vent combo and it finally gave out 2 days ago after more than 18 years with no problems. I'll replace the microwave with the same brand but just an updated model.I asked the repair guy what he would recommend for brands based on what he's had to repair and he said Maytag had the fewest problems and was what he would recommend.
I think you’ll be fine, go ahead and eat that food. No worries.Update: repair guy said he could fix the issue but it would cost about $450 parts and labor and it would be about a week on the part. My fridge temp was recording 60 degrees on the top shelf so I'll have to throw everything out.
