It was probably just a matter of time before Gundy said something dumb like this. I've had to kind of check myself when it seems that lately Gundy has been getting a lot of respect.
I thought well maybe he was becoming more mature, more sagely with age. Then this. Very Gundy-like really.
This is why the alliance was formed to begin with. If it goes to 8 does the new Big 12 get an autobid?
I'm quite sure that the alliance conferences (and Big 12, of course) would rather see a Big 12 autobid than see the SEC get a 3rd or 4th team in it.

Have you looked at our recruiting rankings that built this successful run?People may have to eat some crow if the money is close to the pac 12
but the problem is that coaches have to recruit against the perception of this narrative.
The new schools have an advantage because the esteem with which they’re held is going up.
the 8 left behinds have to make up some ground because the public perception isn’t the one we see here that talks about how competitive and exciting it will be.
He's a man, dammit!![]()
All this with only recent success. There's a lot to consider in the viewership numbers of this game. First and foremost, this match-up did not include a "Blueblood" program. Here's a list of games since the 2017 season that involved Iowa or Iowa State and did not include any of Michigan, Penn St, Ohio St, Oklahoma, or Texas:

Only one game drew a bigger audience in the last 4+ seasons.
If history were a guide, one would expect this type of game to draw around mid- to upper 2 millions, but instead, it drew just under 4 million.
This was a good showing, considering the teams involved (or, in this example, not involved).

Feels like posturing for the negotiations. "We might approve 12 teams, but only if we make sure that ESPN doesn't jam 5 SEC teams in there and take all the gd money."
My guess is they will want a 2 team per conference limit, or only 3 teams from a conference if they are all in the top 5, or can't take a 3rd team from at the expense of a 2nd P5 or G5 team that is ranked in the top 15, or something like that. Or they will revenue share the money more - instead of shares per team, it will be 50% equal to all and 50% shares per team.

You would think so. And who is on the (maybe I should say 'was on' now) new playoff committee anyway? Wasn't Pollard?I'm quite sure that the alliance conferences (and Big 12, of course) would rather see a Big 12 autobid than see the SEC get a 3rd or 4th team in it.
You go, man!I'll say it until I die....if you don't win your goddam conference in college football then you can't be national champion.
Also, the old NFL sudden death rules are the best OT and the rule change is garbage....and college OT is an abomination

Remember to always take yours meds with food. And these mother ******* kids need to stay out of my mother ******* yard. **** suckers
Is that a movie line (Eastwood?) or just a KnappShack original? And these mother ******* kids need to stay out of my mother ******* yard. **** suckers
And to think that if OuT had kept their yaps shut for just 2-3 months more that the 12 team CFP would have been signed and the SEC (and ESPN) could look forward to 3-5 teams making the CFP EVERY YEAR! Now...it may take several years to get any sort of expanded CFP approved and it will certainly come with specific checks and balances against the SEC. That little news article that broke the OuT gambit to the SEC cost the SEC (and ESPN) billions of $'s. Yes...billions.You would think so. And who is on the (maybe I should say 'was on' now) new playoff committee anyway? Wasn't Pollard?
Until further notice talk of an expanded college football playoff is on Hold.
Sorry SEC, espn. I really hope it doesn't go your way when the talk returns.

The SEC will want atleast 3 teams in the mix. I don’t see a world where they only are allowed two.Feels like posturing for the negotiations. "We might approve 12 teams, but only if we make sure that ESPN doesn't jam 5 SEC teams in there and take all the gd money."
