US vs Canada - World Cup Qualifying

To come out of this rotation against El Salvador and Canada with only 2 points is embarrassing. Meanwhile, Mexico does what you are supposed to do as one of the two premier teams in CONCACAF, and that is pick up the full 6 points against Jamaica and Costa Rica.
Drawing at El Salvador wasn't a disaster. Drawing with Canada at home is a disaster.

Drawing (scoreless at that) at El Salvador may not be a disaster, but isn't that sad we have to say that? El Salvador on the road should still be a win if this program ever wants to take the next step. You know who isn't drawing at "mighty" El Salvador if in the same situation? Brazil, France, Italy, England, Germany, etc. aside from a rare occurrence. Losing at El Salvador is a disaster, but a scoreless draw is a small step right below that.

Please tell me more about Italy's dominance in world cup qualifiers.

Ok, so pick out one of the teams on that list that I started running off. Yeah, Italy and others on that list even have had their stumbles in WCQ. I even mentioned that in my post ("rare occurrence").

First of all, please don't EVER compare qualifying out of CONCACAF to UEFA. That's a joke, as UEFA is light years ahead of CONCACAF. Italy got knocked out in the UEFA Playoff for a spot in the 2018 World Cup by Sweden, who is a top-25 ranked team and so far ahead of El Salvador it's not even in the same galaxy.

Second, you know what Italy and the others can hit back with? World Cup championships, Euro championships, deep runs in the World Cup on multiple occasions etc. But yes, let's be thankful we got a draw at lowly El Salvador. Sorry, but we have to be better than that. I will give you draws at Mexico, Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama, and maybe a few others. But El Salvador is a garbage team that has been to a whopping two World Cups with the last one in 1982.

And it's not just that we drew El Salvador, it was a scoreless draw. More troublesome that we couldn't net a goal against them when just last year the U.S. beat them 6-0 in a friendly.

Another bad performance IMO. Pulisic started with poor body language again. Shrugging his shoulders, flopping his hands etc...This is when he loses a ball or there is a poor pass from a teammate.

Lots of bad first touches again by the team. Wasn't really fun to watch.

I guess my opinion on this matter is if it's supposed to be us and Mexico that are unquestionably at the top in soccer on this continent, why the hell are we even struggling with El Salvador and Canada? I get it - **** happens and that's why the games are played, but for nearly a decade now these "isolated incidents" have become patterns of behavior. How the hell can we even discuss competing at the World Cup seriously when we struggle (and fail) to even qualify for it lately?

Not a great night for sure. However, they still got a point against another good team. Now, let's go beat or draw @ Honduras!
