Big-12 / Pac-12 possible merger

Yes to pods, but don't bother with the divisions. The CCG should just be #1 vs #2 by record, period.

I don’t really like this when you wouldn’t have played even half the teams in the conference, and schedules would be wildly different among the teams being compared by record.

People around KU are starting to think they're getting a Big 10 invite and there will be something announced soon.

That would be very interesting and could go either way for ISU.

The Big 10 grabs every available Power 5 AAU school west of the Mississippi River. It becomes the Big 24 Superconference, composed of three conferences -- the Eastern 8 Conference (Rutgers, Maryland, Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana, and Purdue), the Midwestern 8 Conference (Illinois, Northwestern, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Iowa State, Nebraska, and Kansas), and the Western 8 Conference (Colorado, Utah, Washington, Oregon, Stanford, Cal, USC, and UCLA). If not checkmate, at least check, over the SEC/ESPN.

How'd Nebraska get in there they're not AAU. Swap out Nebraska for Arizona.

You all are making this renaming too difficult.

Just combine the first half of their name with the second half of our name and there you go. That way both conferences are happy. Or even do vice versa.

So, it would just stay the PAC 12? Or are you thinking something on the lines of the PIG 12?

IMO this is likely just a kicking the tires kind of conversation between Commissioners who face a similar dilemma going into the next round of media rights negotiations. Can the Pac 12 Network platform gain more economy of scale with up to 4 more games per week on the platform? Has the new Pac 12 Commissioner had discussions with new media platforms like Apple, Amazon, Netflix, etc.

I would also think part of Bowlsby's responsibility over the next couple years will be to talk to other conference commissioners about their interest in the Big12 eight. With the Big12 issuing a cease & desist to ESPN and being upset with the backstabbing approach UT/OU- having Bowlsby garner interest might create for less realignment speculation.

Name the new conference the “GRANDI VENTI”, the big 20.

Sponsored by, Starbucks.

Or

“The Donner Party”
Tagline: “watch our members eat themselves alive”
