So you went with there internet only, and then streaming the Disney package?
Yep, we have internet only through Metronet. We signed up for a Disney/Hulu/ESPN+ package farther back, when it first launched. I'm not sure if those are still available.

I love how 10 years ago it was "screw cable", I want al a acarte. People(including me) complaining about paying Mediacom $150/month for an internet and cable package. Now it's
$80 Internet
$20 Netflix
Get Hulu + Live TV, Disney+, and ESPN+ for $72.99/month
$180
Oh and you're still missing Discovery +, Peackock, and a bunch of channels that you got with cable

Oh and make sure your data package is huge because of the streaming.

I'm not ready to go back to cable but it's kind of ridiculous.

I agree with what you're saying, but my mediacom bill was only that low during the introductory period. Plus, MetroNet's pricing is about half of mediacom's for double the speed for my area. I'm absolutely saving money.

They've been in Nevada for about a year. They seem disorganized as hell, work in one part of town for a couple of days, then move to another site altogether leaving original work unfinished. They dug a hole in my yard without request or permission and covered it with a plate rather than filling it in. I don't plan on getting their service, so why should they have to have access on my property?

I checked out pricing early on and wasn't really impressed. A coworker says he knows someone that has it and the speed and service aren't consistent at all.

Everyone is getting all excited about the "fiber optics", but a new product or service is only worth as much as the company that is behind it...

All utilities have access to the right of way on your property. I don't use CenturyLink for anything, but they have a box in my backyard and from time to time come and work on it.

Some day, somebody is going to have a brilliant marketing strategy where you pay one provider and get all the things, Disney, Netflix, Peacock, etc. And then, they're interface it into one big happy app. It'll be so easy to use . . .

I remember telling people this is exactly what would happen.

Except you don't have to do that.

I pay 50.00/mo for CL. I pay 12.99 for Hulu/ESPN+/Disney+. I pay 40.00 for Youtube TV. I'm paying about 100.00 and My DirectTV bill was pushing 200.00/mo by the time I canceled.

Augusta National Golf Club
$83 for Mediacom 100 (2 adult house using 450-600 GB of data a month, 1 terabyte limit)
$25 for YouTube TV (Split 3 ways between my parents and siblings)
$7 for Netflix (Split 3 ways)

$115 (includes taxes) for for internet and two major streaming services. We'll add Disney + once Mando comes back

It was near $200 for DirecTV alone when we cancelled around 2016/17

You can pay for what you want though.

Sure. But that only benefits people who have very limited windows of what content they want.

For most people, even a limited variety of content, less than what cable used to provide, costs just as much.

Seems unlikely, I guess maybe if you want every streaming service for some reason. Regular price for 1Gb/50Mb Mediacom service is $140, plus $85 for TV, plus $10 for each receiver. So $235 total.

Metronet for comparison has 1Gb up and down with no data cap for $100 including the tech fee, Hulu+Disneyplus+ESPNplus is $73, Discovery+ and Peacock for $5 each. Total is $183.

my only complaint with metronet is they add a $10 monthly technology fee but never tell you about it until you get the bill. they also add a $5 monthly billing fee. they will waive the billing fee if you sign up for autopay. but they won't waive the technology fee. the speed is way better than what i had and has been reliable.

Weird coincidence that this thread was bumped today. Just moved to Ames and had Metronet installed at my house yesterday. I also think the technology service fee is BS...why pay extra for service I’m already getting or for later maintenance that I may never need? Also the fact that it’s not immediately advertised with the upfront price ticks me off.

Anyway, I’d give them mixed reviews so far. I was suckered into the 1 gbps plan with whole home wifi when I called to order it, but the gf and I reevaluated and decided to downgrade. I had to go into the office to return the eero routers and get the deal for the lower plan and the service rep there was very helpful and not pushy about the higher plans which I appreciated. Hopefully the actual internet service is as good as advertised.

Netflix alone has more content than everything that used to be on cable.

That said I just don't watch that much TV so I'm not the best one to ask.

I didn't know they had a local office. Where is it?
