Ain't that the truth! :p

Thanks, everyone, for the birthday wishes. I took the whole weekend as my birthday. Boy am I spoiled.

I took a vacation day for my birthday. I don't even remember the last time I didn't work on it if it wasn't on the weekend.

I got on the road bike for what I think is the very first time this year birthday morning. Mrs. Velo apparently wants me out of the house because she told me late last week to go on the big ride this year. That means I better get some miles in. I have been on the fat tire some this year but no road bike miles. The fatty will help with the legs and lungs, but I still have to get my body used to the geometry of the road bike and toughen up the ass for the road bike saddle. ~35 miles with a fair number of hills - DND. Saw one deer who just stopped on the trail right in front of me and looked at me. I came to a complete stop and stood there for 10-15 seconds before it decided to calmly amble on.. Then later saw a doe and two fawns who were spooked as soon as I came around the bend. In both cases the closest I have been to deer on my bike for many, many moon.

After that we took the kids to the zoo, then went out for a b-day dinner. I thanked the fam for a great day.

Happy Belated Birthday, Stormy! Sounds like you had a good one as well!

I'm surprised. I figured we would see you and Lew on Naked and Afraid instead.
Do I have to remind you again that HE is the "let it all hang out" member of this team? I'm more of a "I'm wearing clothes that sort of cover me, that I wouldn't wear if anyone, even family, was here" type.

Had my windows open last night. Woke up about 2am to go to the bathroom, lay back down, and then the smell of skunk fills the room. It was awful.

Loaded up my truck with another load of my neighbor's tree. You can dump storm debris from 7-7 so better get in line before 6:30. It's a complete zoo over there. There were probably 40 vehicles waiting at 6:30 tonight. I just went home

Well a fawn deer still with spots decided to run into my vehicle today. I slowed and swerved but it still bonked it's head into my left front tire and left poop clear at the bottom of the driver door. No damage that I can see. It hopped back up and ran back to the ditch from which it came.

For anyone that cares (@BoxsterCy @NWICY @BCClone ) The C-47 that lead the invasion on Normandy will be at the Mason City airport July 22-24th. Weather and life permitting I will be flying up with a friend on the evening of the 22nd for grill out. This will have some VERY unique and cool aircraft in attendance that evening. The organizer is EXTREMELY well connected in aviation and it is a popular stop on the way to Oshkosh.

It's instinctively hard to do but brake but never swerve. Still can hear my dad telling me that a hundred times when I rode with him as a little kid.

Might be fun to road trip down the 22nd and have a beer, maybe spend to night in MC.

Keep us posted next week.

Am I reading this right? You can actually book a flight?

Clear lake is closer. You can wander in your thong on the beach. South shore inn/the Landing used to be owned by an ISU family and gets a lot of ISU folks there. Ran into Rhoads, fennelly and others there.

USA! USA! Sepp Kuss wins a mountain stage in the tour de France. Woke up just in time to channel surf into it. He came really close to wiping out about a mile away from the finish came around a corner and about put it into a rail. I have no idea how they mange to climb those mountains at the speeds they do and then to nail their descents like that.

1st American cyclist to win a stage since 2011 . I guess this was ran on Sun but I saw it tonight so posted anyway.
