Bring Back All-Time Great for 2021, Who We Adding?

Thing is...Shudak had advantages that kickers today don't. He got to use a block for his first 2 years, and had wider uprights (23'4" compared to today's 18'6") for all 4 years.
Yeah but he was still incredible. He used to warm up by trying to hit the upright. He was incredibly accurate.

Despite a brief period when he got the yips his senior year, Shudak's sucessor, Ty Stewart, was pretty damn good.

I’d have a hard time choosing anyone but Hakeem. Having him opposite Hutchinson and Kolar would be an absolute nightmare for any defense

It has to be on defense right? Our offence is STACKED. Even the WR room has a TON of talent, even though we haven't seen it all come together yet.

Jaquan Bailey or Jason Berryman (RIP) was my first thought. An upgrade over Peterson opposite Will McDonald. This would (and did) require opposing offenses to check those 2 guys every play or risk a sack.

Leonard Johnson also comes to mind (opposite of Anthony Johnson). 2 physical lock down corners would make opponents have to be creative in the passing game.

If I had to go offense, it would probably Lazard. He was more polished in college and would immediately give X and Milton a lot more opportunity.

The fun part of this is that it's incredibly difficult to choose because there are no obviously weak position groups. I'm holding out hope that special teams has already been addressed. We have a lot of guys competing for those very few weak spots on last year's team.

If we go WR, is it weird I would rather have Allen Lazard?
Give me Butler, we have Kolar as a possession guy. No better over the top guy than Butler.

Heacock is all you need defensively.

I wanted to say Troy Davis. Add him as a change of pace and pass catching back and this team is unstoppable.

The more I think about it though I'd say Butler or Lazard. I feel like WR2 is our weakest position, add a pro reciever like that with Hutchison and this team would be on another level.

Troy Davis. Nice backfield with Hall.

Offensive Line: Karl Nelson or Gene Williams
Offense-Skill: Steve Lester or Tracy Henderson (if it weren't for the glut of TEs, I'd have loved to see Mike Busch with a shot in this offense)
Defense: Tom Boskey, Matt Blair or Barry Hill
Special Teams: James McMillion

Your post is dating me with this blast from the past. My undergrad years followed on the heels of Karl's years at ISU. My grad school time overlapped with Gene. I would see him on campus during the week with a boot and/or on crutches, then he was starting on Saturday...tough guy!

Reggie Hayward would be my pick. Dude could play angry with the best of them.

Especially at his senior weight. He played a bit light early in his ISU career, but held up better on the run as he added weight and strength, and he got stronger as a pro.

Definitly Butler. If we had him we would hang 60 on about 70% of our competition.

KO or Berryman are also good answers. Can you imagine Berryman and McDonald opposite sides?....

Kelechi Osemele or Keith Simms is the right answer. The ability to control the line should always be priority one of a football team.
KO is the right answer...but damn I'd love to have Hakeem for this season too.
