Earle Bruce days?!! Good lord, there are some geezers here! ;)

(I’m forced to claim “Donnie Duncan days”)

I thought I was old having survived the Jim Walden years!

BTW- anybody remember Chuck Banker and what the story was there? Did he just fill in the final two games of the season?

The main north-south walkway, yes. I’d expect that first thing in the morning.

But not the patch between that and the sidewalk bordering the parking lot.
Back on topic…

I thought they would pour that main north-south walkway today (after I saw them grading it yesterday), but since I see a pile of gravel in it, guess not.

Setting my sights on first thing Monday…unless they work tomorrow.

I assume this area will all be concrete?

Looks like it will be according to the video. A strip of grass will be planted between the ramp retaining wall and the sidewalk to the W entrance. Also, I'm just now noticing that the video shows a "garage" for the media truck(s). That would explain why so much is torn up just to the east of the camera location.

And back to your regular scheduled programming.... Still lots of time this afternoon to pour some more concrete. Looks like it's getting close to that.

I just checked. I saw one person moving on the screen, on the walkway in front of the Jake.

Either the place is deserted, or most of them are over on the west side of the stadium.

The sod in the NW corner is looking pretty stressed today. Much more yellow-brown than it has looked previously. What are the chances they might need to replace some of that, even with irrigation?
They just put it down Monday. It doesn't just turn green instantly. Look at the other hill, it's starting to look pretty nice.

Right, but the NE hillside was never exposed to this extreme heat, and I don't recall it ever looking as stressed as the NW hillside does. I understand it doesn't establish right away, but that sod is up against it in terms of weather conditions.

I agree. I did some research on sod and found that installing it in above 90 degree weather can be problematic. Look at the sod in these pictures from Tuesday to Thursday.

Tuesday:

Thursday:

It’s definitely yellowed (especially the lower half). I also spotted these 5 guys inspecting and lifting up segments of the sod yesterday:

Finally, they were watering the sod at noon today (notice the wet arcs on the concrete guardrail):
sod water2.jpg

That’s the first I’ve seen them water in the middle of the day; possibly a remedial step to save/lessen the damage to the sod? I hope so. It needs to be ready for all those happy butts come this fall!

Edit: and they're watering again at 5 pm. And at 8 pm.
