Stimulus...have you received yours?

Would the IRS look at our return since it is so different from our prior year? I mean I could have a 30 second conversation with someone from the IRS to explain the differences.
Possibly. Their computer system could have flagged it for potential fraud.

Anyone who qualifies for stimulus based on their 2020 return but didn't based on their 2019 return should receive their stimulus assuming they file their tax return by 7/15...or at least that's what they're telling us.

I agree with you based on what I've heard/read.

I think we'll end up getting everything we're supposed to but I am going to chalk the delays up timing and massive differential so far.

I thought it was all based of 2019 returns. Wonder what happens to all those people who haven't done their 2019 returns yet and keep filing extensions, because they think they can do it themselves much less not even thinking of doing 2020 taxes yet.

This was based on 2019 taxes unless you've filed your 2020 returns for the most recently approved payments. I believe it is a credit for your 2020 filing year.

Based on 2019 if 2020 hasn't been filed.

No 2019 return I'm guessing no stimulus payment unless it's a situation where they're not required to file but their information is still available via social security or something like that.

Additionally, if 2019 taxes haven't been filed there's no additional extensions. That return is late and their stimulus is going to cover the late filing penalties. 2019 1040s were due 10/15/2020.

Sorry but I have to laugh at the friends of ours that can't figure out where there stimulus checks are when you don't file taxes and now if they owe any it will come out of their stimulus when they do file. To think if they would have spent a little money to have them done in the first place, they would be in this position. She thinks she knows all the deductions she can get, thus that's why she does them since she runs a business. You reap what you sow I guess.

I'm wondering if this happened to anyone else. I received my first two stimulus amounts via direct deposit. I paid my 2020 taxes via the same bank account, but for some reason this stimulus is coming via paper check to be mailed tomorrow. I have no idea why this one would be sent via paper check when everything else I've done is directly through the same bank account.

That happened to me with the 2nd stimulus. Received the first on direct deposit, 2nd one check, 3rd one direct deposit.
I've used the same bank account for years so I don't know why it changed either.

Mine is "Set to mail (tomorrow) March 26th"

I have no idea why they are mailing it. I did direct deposit.
I guess this year I had to pay-in on my tax return, but they still withdrew from my bank account.

I assume that means I will receive it around Tuesday next week

Not if Dejoy has anything to say about it. I'd hope for July 4th if I were you.

Same. First stimulus was direct deposit. Second was paper check for some reason. This one is paper check as well.

Got mine yesterday. By the end of the year with the child credit and stimuluses (stimuli?) will net me around 30k. Should just go into full time baby making.

Same thing happened to a buddy of mine who had filed 2020 & had to pay. My assumption is the IRS only 'keeps/saves' your direct deposit info if/when they actually are sending you a payment? So even if they had your bank info saved from last year, they might wipe out that database for the new year - and don't want to pay to protect more bank info for those who are just paying in to them?

No idea if that's even close, but might make some sense? Or not..

This is what I have gotten every single time I have gone to the Get My Payment site

If you aren't eligible then just say so.
