My mind still goes back to yesterday's release from Jamie which said "If you don't hear it from me, it's probably not true" as foreshadowing to this exact scenario. I still think it's going to be somebody else and a lot of people are going to have egg on their face.
Wouldn’t surprise me.

Let’s stop using the two bolded. By all reports, we are paying $5+ million for Prohm’s buyout around $4 million for TJ’s (exact number will eventually be released as both are public universities). So this whole “we don’t have any money because of COVID” schtick can be put to bed.

I’m fine with hiring TJ. I’m not fine with him bring the only target AND us overspending for a guy no one else wants. If the UNLV buyout ends up at $3-4 million, that’s significant $$$ that we could have used to lure a more proven head coach.
Blowing a hole in the athletic budget and reorganizing your budget can mean the same thing. Believe me, if you're taking $5 mil from somewhere, that somewhere is going to hurt. As simple as that.

If you think this search started after prohm was fired. You are the dumbest human being on planet earth... Major donors wanted a change after last year. I bet this has been at least a 1-2 month long due diligence process

My mind goes back to pollards video where he says the search will be quick. And I paraphrase, but he also said we wouldn’t be impressed with the pick.

It’s TJ. It has always been TJ.

The good part is we will never have to deal with him again.

I don’t agree with this. Pollard has done amazing things for ISU but his blind spot is his ego. He probably thinks he’s smarter than everyone else by making this move. I hope he’s right, this is a massive hire for the basketball program.
IMO, until we know the 'results' and 'terms', we're not in a position to judge. I disagree on ego. As recently as last week I wrote JP and suggested a new profit center. As busy as he was, he was courteous enough to reply.

Well, Self, Huggins, and Kruger all have resumes far better and longer than TJ's. I would think many programs across the country would love to have Beard. Boynton impressed with the progress he made this season, although Cunningham will likely be gone next year. I'd definitely rank Drew ahead of TJ right now, considering he has the #3 team in the nation. That leaves Weber, Shaka, and Dixon. Pretty tough to rank TJ anywhere with nothing to compare him to.

Well he was the first and only person we looked at. So he must be very good. We certainly wouldn’t pick an unproven coach.

PLUS, I recall hearing (in person) from JP several years back that he always has a short list for every coaching position as that is part of his job.

This is an important Coaching Hire. There are risks with ALL the candidates that we would realistically be in play for. IMO it basically comes down to trust. JP knows TJ extremely well. TJ has logically checked every box possible in terms of getting experience and moving up the coaching ladder. TJ is the right fit. IMO he will have the best chance of locking down any talent we might have returning. Plus I think he can retain Hunter and maybe even snag an additional player or two to help this Spring. The many great Cyclones recruited by TJ endorse him as well. IMO we should embrace the hire of TJ and support it.

IIRC in that video Jamie also said something along the lines of “the best fit for ISU may not be someone who has the most wins.” A la TJ

What a joke if it’s T.J. ISU will continue being a bottom feeder with him at the helm. His UNLV team this last year was just as poorly coached as ISU’s. Looked to be coached by the same guy. This is Jamie hiring his buddy and not looking out for the basketball program. T.J. will get the recruits, but they will be badly coached. He’s literally Prohm 2.0, but a slightly better recruiter. What a ******* joke.

You are exactly correct that Baby J biggest weakness is his ego. He has done good things in terms of facilities but only has one great hire and one lucky hire for the power sports despite numerous attempts. History says there is a greater chance this flops vs succeeds given his track record of hiring. That is his history.

I love it! I think he will be great! As you know, I’ve been predicting this for months. Long live TJ and his mediocre record in the mountain west. But it’s ok because he won in South Dakota with a generational player.

can i love this more than just the emoji i get to use?
