I sure hope you're right. Any insight to how the UNLV fanbase thinks of Otz? From afar it seems like they're ready for Otz to be gone.
I will just hope he retires soon if Otz ends up being a failure.
It seems bizarre to not even pretend to do a search. Maybe he was emboldened by all of the hatred spewed about Prohm that he could hire his bestie without a search.
As much as I question the wisdom of this hire, we could do a lot worse than Pollard.

TJ year 3 is not a guaranteed upper half of the of the league finish. If guy were to finish .500 now UNLV might be looking at other options, and now you have to pay his last 2 years.
Don't think they will waive it, but I do think it the possibility exists it will get negotiated down.

We could do better if this is how he’s going to conduct his hires. You have much confidence in who he might hire if Campbell leaves? I sure wouldn’t.
If only JP would put half the effort into a coaching search that he does for all of the renovations and new facilities...

It’s Jamie. He doesn’t view the fact that he just had to fire an 0-18 coach he hired, and then gave an extension to just two years ago, as a indictment of his basketball judgement.
He sees it as an opportunity to prove his buddy is the right guy for the job. He’s not passing this up. If he’s wrong, that’s okay, he may be retired and isn’t held accountable if otherwise. He’ll probably push the narrative it was someone else’s fault again, likely donors this time
Yes! Just pretend to do a search. It is not mission critical to hire him this week.
We have a woman at work that is very hard to get a hold of now that we are teleworking. She’s obviously not at her desk for chunks of the day. And she’s going to get nailed soon. But I’ve never understood why she doesn’t take her phone with her so she knows when she has a call or email. That’s what I’d do if I was trying to cheat the system.
That’s what Jamie should do—pretend to interview guys.
