It’s almost comical that people really don’t know how Pollard works . You don’t think over the last 2-3 weeks he hasn’t “talked” with other potential candidates lol.
I don't think that's true at all. Remember Fred after he and Jamie had their talk at his kitchen table? Fred said he thought it went well, and said he was just hoping for a second interview. He said he was surprised when Jamie offered him the job right there and then.
I don't think Pollard likes tracking down/talking with candidates. He just wants it to be done.

Yeah, it's cute that they are saying it isn't official yet. It's as official as you can get before they do the zoom press conference in a couple of days.

I'm seeing an open letter from JP scolding our fan base for the lukewarm reception TJ may receive when he's on the job and the wins don't come as fast as we'd like...

Here's the thing, if he waited just a week, we could at least believe that we were trying to get a successful coach.

If JP already had his mind made up, I'm not sure there is any point in waiting just to give the appearance of an actual search.

At least now TJ can get a jump on recruiting and assembling his staff.

No he can't. I mean he's a good recruiter, but Chicago isn't his area.

That being said, I'm sure we'll have a Chicago guy on staff. And TJ is legit in Wisconsin. And maybe Jamie will let him buy players in Vegas!
I hope he stays right the hell out of Chicago. Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, JC, Prep. There’s a kid 20 blocks north of Hilton we need to get.

I'm also in the camp of not understanding the "24 hour search" posts. Conservatively JP has known for a month that Prohm was gone.

I would highly doubt that Pollard interviewed anyone else, especially during the season. These jobs can be won and lost during the interviews. Instead Pollard just picked his guy. That’s fine (and it worked great for Hoiberg and Campbell) but I don’t see the issue with going through the full interview process to save a few days.

Realistically with you still having a coach, the other options still coaching their teams(and presumably being focused on postseason play) there's a limit to how thorough said search can be. Coaches aren't going to fly out and meet you for an interview 3 weeks ago.

never-mind. Boomer trying to win the internet. Proceed with trashing ISU.
Millennial, and not trying to win the internet, you boomer. Not trashing ISU, trashing the notion JP is above reproach.

Few are trashing Otz. They’re trashing JP’s process. Why is that hard to understand? Otz is just the unproven, unheralded freshman the coach needs to put in because they didn’t do their job.

If true, this is Pollard’s worst hire as AD. UNLV beat Air Force 3 times, New Mexico twice, and San Jose State twice—-those 3 teams combined to win 16 total games this year. Two of UNLV’s other wins were against Benedictine Mesa College and St. Katherine; both of which are NAIA schools.

Edit: 1 win this year against teams with a winning record. I really hope this report is false.

You've been bragging all day about his players and recruiting at UNLV. Las Vegas recruiting is just as dirty as Chicago recruiting.

I'm pretty sure they beat Utah State once this year. And as I've learned today, he has owned Craig Smith!
