I'd also imagine that he's had a conversation with the major donors to know their feeling about this hire. An AD is safe right up until the donors decide he's not. If the donors liked or wanted TJ, the Pollard is safe regardless of the results.

2. It will take him years to fix this mess, so buckle up
3. He won't win the press conference, so it will be hard to get excited

If it ends up him, it ends up him. Can’t believe all the “fans” publicly trashing the man and the program before he has coached a game here. I’m not totally sold on it but I think the best move is to just not say anything going forward and let it play out. It won’t change it and it will just hurt ISU’s image and the program to be a bunch of dicks.
