Something really fun to think about is that next year we’ll be getting new uniforms. Expect a black uniform to happen.

That was all Abdelmassih which is why Fred would have to leave him behind if he wanted to come back and knows that

That's fine. He can hire another lead recruiter. It's not like they are knocking it out of the park in Nebraska anyway. Who knows, maybe TJ will give up his gig at UNLV to be Fred's lead assistant thus making him the next hire after Fred leaves.

Fred Hoiberg is a college basketball coach.
Yeah I was gonna say.. You know who Fred Hoiberg is really like? Fred Hoiberg, the coach who had us in the top 15 at the end of the year two years in a row before leaving to go coach for the Chicago Bulls lol.

Fred is like that girl next door from a small town with smoking hot looks. CF is that Farm Boy who dated her. Things were great she was good for you and you were good for her but she sought after the bright lights in the big city so she left. Leaving you to pick up the pieces. You got hooked up with a girl you thought was the next best thing. Looks, personality but in the end she just didn't hold up her end of the relationship. She said all the right things but you just felt empty and everytime you thought she would pull through for you she just fell flat.

So while you contemplate how to get out of the relationship you get this phone call from that girl next door hoping to rekindle that spark you guys had in the past. Problem is while she was away it was hard on her. She got used and abused. Some of it her fault and some just bad luck so the a Big City chewed her up and spit her out. She tries to land with both feet on the ground in the town next over but it's not going well.

She needs a lifeline so she thinks maybe she can hook back up with that Farm Boy when life was good and renew the spark. The problem life has not been kind to her and it shows and she is barely able to hold it together. The Farm boy only thinking about how good it was before is blind to her flaws and with the failed past relationship is eager to jump back in.

The Farm boy with a little low self esteem due to the bad recent relationship seems doomed to fall back in another stale relationship. What will he do? Even though it's scary maybe he'll venture out of his small town see that there are promising prospects or will he go back to what he thought was the real deal but was just a right place right time and now that time has moved on.
A coaching hire isn't a romantic relationship. Hoiberg didn't "leave us to pick up the pieces". He did his job. He made it clear from the beginning to most around him that he was eventually going to leave for an NBA job if he could. He gave us the best 5 year stretch in ISU history and set us up for continued success. That's realistically all you can ask from any coach.

This does explain a lot about the people who piss on the idea of Hoiberg though. You were so enamored with Hoiberg the first time around that you took it as personally as a girl dumping you, and now you're basing what you think about a coaching hire not on facts but on butthurt emotion.

Who knows if Hoiberg is actually interested in coming back here or if people are just inventing ****. We'll find out pretty quickly over the next few weeks. But these takes, yikes.

I heard he was a pretty decent player in his day as well. Can’t confirm though. Probably played at some diva blue blood school though.

But what if he only wins 12 conference games every year?
What if he makes us successful and leaves?
What if he doesn't love us?

We'd probably better just stick with Steve. At least we know our future with him.

I’d bet 90% of the people who have bad blood for Hoiberg will be more excited than anyone when he gets hired. I think it’s a coping mechanism

It was not all Matt, although he ran with it.
And Jamie dictating the staff of a high major basketball program because his feelings were hurt kind of exemplifies the challenge we have of hiring and retaining successful coaches. Campbell is a different breed. Most have huge egos and don’t want to deal with an AD with an even bigger ego.

I'm not clamoring for Fred and think some fans have a weird relationship with Fred but this is way weirder than even I thought.

Fred is not going to abandon his best recruiter

Agree, doesn’t seem to be adding up for CFH to return, if there are these rumored conditions. Unless there is a ton of other, under reported reasons driving him to do it inspite of. Too much going for him not to see how the next couple of years play out at NU.
