Anyone else hearing that JP has already decided Prohm is coming back?

Bad Blood from Diamondhead Classic in Hawaii. That is what I have read. Plus Fred felt Iowa State was cheap and slighting the program. Plus when Fred signed the Big Contract for 10 years, Iowa State said that Hoiberg was being paid $2.6 Million per year. In reality, that was the AVERAGE Salary of the Contract. Hoiberg got $2 million with annual increase of $100k per year. So Iowa State overstaed what Hoiberg was paid. Guess he was pissed about that too.

There seems to be two opinions on Fred and Jamie in these threads. Some people say the relationship is great and then other people like you claim Jamie is part of the reason Fred left.

Which is it?
Are you talking working relationship?
Again, it’s not fair to say that’s why he left, but it could be why he wouldn’t return.

If you’re thinking about a drama filled relationship, you’re wrong. Just two professionals with some disagreements on some things.

I think it was fine. I think people suggesting that any conflict they had made Fred jump earlier than he maybe originally intended are really overweighing the importance of that relationship.

Having a serious heart condition and surgery tends to speed up timelines for your bucket list. I would say it's quite possible Fred would've stuck around a couple more years to accomplish more at ISU and have a better situation open up in the NBA for him if not for the heart surgery.

As for the Gophers job - Fred is still an actual person with a family. If the family really liked MSP and didn't like being in Ames, what's it hurt to listen?

I certainly agree with this. I don't agree with the person who said Fred and Prohm's offense is the same lol. There is so much more going on in Fred's offense compared to Prohm's.
I know the athletes we have now aren’t quite the ones we’ve had under Fred, but there are and have been skilled guys on our team, but let me ask, when is the last time we saw an alley oop dunk since Prohm has been coaching? Under Fred, minimum 2-3 a game. With Prohm, it’s a rarity. Not only that, Fred hated long jump shots because they’re worth the same amount of points as a layup, or you could back up a step or two and get a 3 point opportunity. There’s little comparison to the two offenses, and Fred is a master of offense. Plus, dunks get the crowd going and get the players fired up.

I don't know anything about the first one, but reporting avg annual salary is pretty standard. I think the details were available for anyone who wanted them. I'm not sure I believe that ticked him off, but if it did that's pretty petty on his part.

Anyone have a list of coaches that coached non-consecutive years at a school and were successful in college basketball?

It’s hard to have a lot of dunks when your roster is full of short dudes lol. But I believe just last night Dubar threw an oop to someone and it was successful. Can’t remember if it was Conditt or Young who finished it, but there was one. Your point 100% stands tho.

We don’t have the skilled athletes we have had in the past and we aren’t aggressive.

Hey guys, Word of this board reached out husker hoops board in regards to Fred. Being a big CBB fan, I thought I'd give my 2 cents from a Nebraska perspective. I think everyone in and around the program realizes how lucky we are to have Fred. We're a 2, he's a 10 - we're basically the fat dad in a sitcom who way out kicked their coverage. Sure there are some grumblings, but absolutely everyone wants to give him the time needed to build this thing. Obviously if he wants to return home and you guys have the buyout money - that's what will happen - but I can't see us helping with the buyout, because we aren't getting another coach with Fred's background.

As you well know we've kinda sucked for 2 years. Fred inherited a terrible team and has entirely turned the roster over twice. All the analytics show we're a team full of good shots and bad shooters. We're getting the looks - they just rarely fall. The hope is we get the guys that can make the shots that Fred has been drawing up. With our program's first 5 star in the fold next season, and an actual nucleus returning for the first time in years, we actually might see some results.

Lastly Craig Smith. Guy is a stud. Great person too. Tim Miles never went to an NCAA without him on the bench. Miles peaked in 2014 with the NCAA appearance then Smith bounced and we never reached that success ever again. If Fred did leave, he would be first on my list - but I don't think he would consider us as he is destined for bigger things.

You really don't have anything to worry about. For a small portion of posters here the answer to any basketball question at ISU is Fred Hoiberg. Most understand that there are a bunch of practical reasons on both ends why this won't happen. But it is an entertaining way to pass the time until we get down to the real search. And I say that as somebody who would love to have him back. I just tend to believe that if he's ever back in Ames at some capacity it would be as AD.

I've wondered the same thing recently and nothing came immediately to mind. I'd guess there are examples but I'm not sure who/where.
Only instances I can think of are College Football with Schiano to Rutgers and the Vampire returning to KSU. It worked out for KSU and the Vampire but jury still out on Rutgers as this was his first year.

I do have to ask, is it fair to say that this Nebraska fan has nothing to worry about when talking about a guy that left his last college job for a better one?

So many people thought “no way Fred leaves Iowa State” but we should now believe there’s no way he leaves Nebraska? I refuse to believe that.

Yes it was. I believe at the time, the consensus was it was more Matt A upset with things more so than Fred.

Matt A was upset that the AD didn’t spend additional money on the hotel suites when they had a 3 hour gap between checkout and their flight.

When JP went on KXNO he pretty forcefully refuted the family tickets claim.

Fred is like that girl next door from a small town with smoking hot looks. CF is that Farm Boy who dated her. Things were great she was good for you and you were good for her but she sought after the bright lights in the big city so she left. Leaving you to pick up the pieces. You got hooked up with a girl you thought was the next best thing. Looks, personality but in the end she just didn't hold up her end of the relationship. She said all the right things but you just felt empty and everytime you thought she would pull through for you she just fell flat.

So while you contemplate how to get out of the relationship you get this phone call from that girl next door hoping to rekindle that spark you guys had in the past. Problem is while she was away it was hard on her. She got used and abused. Some of it her fault and some just bad luck so the a Big City chewed her up and spit her out. She tries to land with both feet on the ground in the town next over but it's not going well.

She needs a lifeline so she thinks maybe she can hook back up with that Farm Boy when life was good and renew the spark. The problem life has not been kind to her and it shows and she is barely able to hold it together. The Farm boy only thinking about how good it was before is blind to her flaws and with the failed past relationship is eager to jump back in.

The Farm boy with a little low self esteem due to the bad recent relationship seems doomed to fall back in another stale relationship. What will he do? Even though it's scary maybe he'll venture out of his small town see that there are promising prospects or will he go back to what he thought was the real deal but was just a right place right time and now that time has moved on.
