I was told when Fred left for the Bulls that he would never be back. It's just too hard for him to live a normal life in Ames with his popularity.

So unless he's had a serious change of heart I just can't see him coming back...it's not like that popularity has gone away...well, some of it may have based on some people's posts but the majority of it would still be there.

Great to hear. I definitely agree on PJ. PJ's all about PJ.

So, what's the tie with Smith to Minn?? There are at least two candidates that have those ties that Minnesotans so badly want -- Dutcher (think he's the son of Minn BB coach from past) and Saunders - the love affair with him up here is staggering; seems like a good guy, but not sure where the proof of coaching chops is.

I have no idea.

Interesting cluase in the SDSU coach's contract

He's got SDSU it a great spot

Dutcher would be a good hire. He would be nuts to leave SDSU. The location and all that comes with San Deigo to move to a cold state? Plus, he has lower pressure on him, he get's paid semi decent. Although in California his tax bracket and overall cost of living means he kind of don't make as much as it seams.

TJ actually has a better recruiting class coming in than Fred. TJ actually recruited all the ISU greats that spurred Hoiberg’s success. Hoiberg hated recruiting. TJ has a helluva recruiting reputation. But I really do not care about TJ one way or the other. TJ has been mentioned as a possible replacement so that is why I mentioned him. And really don’t care if neither Fred nor TJ are selected.
Actually, Fred loved recruiting in the beginning but it started taking a toll on him as his children grew older and he started missing things. Now that they're all older, it's not as bad.

If there's no announcement today, is there precedent for anything like this being announced by ISU on a Saturday? Season schedule-wise, it would make sense. But news releases rarely happen on weekends.

they announced they were firing Rhoads on a Sunday.

I think there’s an off chance it happens Sunday. Much more likely Thursday.

He's raw, emotional and real. One video after a 2019 conference title. One after a 2020 title

My wife is starting to get jealous of my crush

Craig Smith is my top want. He has a dominant post he could try to bring with him too that is exactly what Iowa State needs next season.

Imo, the Rashad Vaughn recruitment took a lot out of him. RV was his first big fish recruit, and everything pointed toward him being a great fit with Hoiberg and Iowa St, then UNLV comes from no where with handlers, jobs, and likely cash. A real blow to Fred and the pureness of what Fred thought recruiting was.

Nah Fred knew exactly what recruiting was and what was going on elsewhere. But yes, Vaughn's handler / I believe his uncle came on the visit and asked Fred how much we were willing to pay and Fred was like "you're kidding right?" lol

Painting Fred as naïve to the recruiting world is not accurate.

Not that RV didn't take something out of him, but he knew the game.

So if JP doesn’t want Fred back then he should be fired?

NO. There is no way in hell that I would choose Fred over JP. No Way.

I want Prohm replaced. And I will support whomever JP chooses. Whether that would be Fred, TJ or some other candidate. But Prohm is done.
Lol fire pollard without hesitation.

If RV had been during his first year, I might buy the naivete idea, but not that far in.
I should add that Fred had to know a whole lot of that side of it as a well-recruited guy himself. I can't see him not knowing that part of college sports going in.
