Anyone else hearing that JP has already decided Prohm is coming back?

Fred was linked to a few jobs way better than Nebraska, however he didn't like them due to a variety of reasons, 1 being location.

I think Fred should be the hire, and hope gunner is not just driving clicks.

but being linked to jobs isn’t really the same as being a candidate

before your time Dan McCarney was linked to the head coaching job at Florida

Yeah I know that. He really wanted to stay in the midwest and Nebraska was the best option for doing that. And I would love to have Fred back too, but I can't tell if Gunner is just pulling our legs either. I'd be disappointed but knew it was too good to be true lol.

i think that means options that he wanted. Don’t be a pedantic jackass every post. We get it Mr. Perturbed.

LOL. Not Perturbed at all. Fred has not had a good season in coaching since leaving Iowa State. In fact, Fred has been pretty bad. And the meltdowns at the end of many Nebraska games that result in losses do not give me confidence in pursuing Fred. You are entitled to your opinion.

I'll be happy and excited with whoever our next coach is because I know it means change. I do think that there is only one coach out there that would immediately jump start this program from an excitement level, and that is Fred.

The exhibition game would be a sell out. Hell, Hilton Madness would most likely be a sell out, because who is going to want to miss Fred walking through that tunnel for the first time? I think some people on here forget that when Fred was the coach, he got more of a roar from the crowd than the players did at times. He had a theme song for Christ sake..

If it can be done, do it, because good lord we are in an awful place right now. We need fun and excitement and hope and if Jamie wants that back as quickly as possible, Fred's the guy. From a marketing stand point alone it's an absolute no brainer decision.

That’s cool. I didn’t. How did he end up at tarleton?
Tarleton? I saw him off had chance when he was with Mcmurrey and then when Little Rock came up I was surprised to hear his name. Just really liked the way he holds himself and his attitude.

I'll be excited that Prohm has been replaced but I sure as hell am not going to an exhibition game because Fred is the coach. That's just weird.

I appreciate this perspective and will challenge myself to do the same, no matter who may be the next coach.

I could go either way with with Fred....and would be fascinated to see how Hilton would react first game (as some on here would boo maybe? lol). But i do how cool it was when he came out and the crowd would react....IF he would be hired, he'd need to have a VERY honest opening presser "Ok, here's the deal...i wanted to be an NBA coach...it didn't work out....I also don't mind recruiting....but maybe didn't go all in the last year or two....and sorry about UAB......also.....yes, i said Lincoln was "home" cause my grandpa coached there...but i used to walk 5 blocks to hilton to be the ball boy (insert other overtold stories, lol).....Carol and I are grown adults, we dont' mind living here....we will have hilton rockin....and Georges will be a assistant when his career is over....also, you know you are happy to have another Hoi-burger at Applebees?"

Nostalgia is a strange thing. This happens every coaching search - some people wanted Sage Rosenfels or Seneca Wallace to be the head football coach to succeed Paul Rhoads. Some people are advocating for Marcus Fizer to replace Prohm.

Fred may get some excitement but, again, with the dollars required to go get him - I'd rather get someone better.

That said, I'm with you on your first sentence. I'll be excited for ANYONE because we have no hope right now for winning basketball.
