Nope, not gonna place. SMH - he’s a given as a finalist contender, if you follow the thread. I’m talking about other AA contenders.
I figured you just forgot about him. I absolutely knew you thought he would AA.

Looking at Flo rankings, I see they pulled Degen because he hasn't wrestled this month. He Fix or Micic wrestled this month? They are still #1 & #2 at 133

I watched the Illinois Hwt (ranked #5) Luffman against Cassioppi and I didn't know who he was. He wasn't nothing impressive. I think there are 4 285 pounder that I feel comfortable say they will AA, Gable, Parris, Cass and Hilger, after that it is a guessing game
This is spot in. Gremmel is in the mix with probably 8-12 guys shooting for 4 spots.

Not convinced Kerk will be going this year for PSU, but Seth Nevills is also a very tough heavy that would be ranked behind Grem
Is that kid ever going to be ready? This isn’t meant to bash the kid but he’s been hurt a lot recently it seems like. Durability could be an issue.

I remember him being a double Fargo champ recently I think at 220. Might be a little undersized at hwt I don’t think he’s that tall.

Interesting thing is that Flo has Hilger ranked #10. Such a small pool of matches this year, that one upset makes big moves in the rankings.

Is he hurt or are they training for the trials? I think we will see a lot of the top talent show up on the mat at conference tournament time. Not sure how the NCAA is going to allocate berths on the new guys with a limited history.

Rumor on the PSU/Iowa boards is he had a surgery and will be out for the year. Just a rumor, but there is smoke that he will be out this year

The two biggest questions for me right now are:
(1) What will ISU's lineup be for Big 12?
(2) Will the NCAA go with the full 330-man bracket?

The answers to those two will go a long way in figuring out how many qualifiers ISU is likely to have. We already know that the NCAA is going to use 5-year data to determine allocations. What we don't know yet is the bracket size.

If it's the full bracket, the Big 12 will probably have 45-46 allocations:
5 at 125, 133, 149, 165, 197, HWT
4/5 at 174
4 at 141 and 184
3 at 157

That's a bummer. He wrestled in some of the NLWC freestyle events and looked really good. In Oct. he teched Youssif Hemida. In Nov. he teched Demetrius Thomas. Just a couple of weeks ago he teched Deonte Wilson. All of them in the first period.

Granted, all of those matches were freestyle so take it for what it's worth, but that kid is really good on his feet.

Rankings definitely are shifting a lot this year, but Hillger lost to Luffman a couple weeks ago, and then lost to Lance from Nebraska last week. So we might be down to even 3 sure-fire AAs at HWT.

Everyone who is disappointed in this season please go back to the Leland Weatherspoon scoring 1 point at nationals out of 3 qualifiers season and get back to me
If you’re not disappointed in this season, than you’d probably be fine going back to that season. Sorry for being excited that ISU had a potential top 5 team. In a year when you don’t have any ivies, plus all the other uncertainty, everything was primed for for a breakthrough year.
Look, 15th place is good and a lot better than the past, but I want to see more progress and it’s disappointing to have to wait 2-3 more years.

It's still within reach next year depending on who comes back.

What if I told you a person can recognize the progress that’s been made and still think more could be had? It’s okay to show some disappointment compared to what the expectations were or should be. Yes injuries, guys leaving, etc have all happened. Still can be in the camp of wanting more given the tenure now of the coaching staff (and noting they are getting paid extremely well). I’m 100% positive they aren’t happy where we are at so why can’t some us feel the same?

Except that was with Mackall, Gomez/Small, Degen, Colbray, and Coleman.

Trying to equate injuries and roster changes with a lack of progress? That dog don't hunt.
Yes, exactly why this season is disappointing. So much potential, but not realized for one reason or another. No one has pointed any fingers, and I am very happy with this staff, but I question if you’re really a fan if you’re not disappointed in the way this season played out.

I think the key is disappointed while excited that it looks like despite the setbacks we have replacements that can continue the growth.
