Winter storm this week seems par for the course with what would have been Iowa Pork Congress in Des Moines. Lost count of how many years there’s been either a blizzard, huge snowfall and/or below zero wind chill in at least part of the state.

The temps you mention are why I continue to want to see these big weather events. Snow is great, and I like it especially when it happens during the light of day. What I hate is when it snows a little, then it’s followed by a brutal cold snap. That hasn’t happened...yet.

February is still out there though.
Agree. What we have had this year has yet to be followed by super cold air. I think I saw the brutal cold is on the other side of the world in Siberia i.e. -60F. If we can get into the middle of February the sun starts making an influence and although it can get cold....things start moderating.

It looks like the southern part of Polk county is going to be in that 10-13 inch range. So south side Des Moines area may get rocked.

Another batch of wet heavy snow? With the temps in the upper 20’s I’m thinking that.
The wet snow usually happens when the temperatures are in the low 30’s. With the high temperatures only being 24-26 degrees in Des Moines, it will likely be the more fluffy snow.
