I think Des Moines is definitely getting hit pretty good. My personal prediction for dsm is 7-10.

I think Des Moines is pretty well locked in for 6+ at this point. Probably approaching north of 70% chance. There's always things that could happen that would theoretically mess up the forecast, but I don't think the probabilities are very high to push Des Moines lower than that, unless something drastically changes in the next 12 hours.
Ames is closer to the area where the dry air on the north side cutting off the snow could come into play.
I hope Minnesota closes the border. Don't want a bunch of snow apocalypse refugees fleeing north. I only have a 1/4 loaf of bread and three beers so don't come here looking for a handout.

It seems like we've had more than our fair share of snow in Des Moines this year. I woke up with a hell of a sinus headache which sometimes happens when a big storm is coming.
I don't especially mind the snow this year since I am not going into the office and I only have tickets to two basketball games this year.

Not really. This is also a 120 hour model. So there could be another system juicing the numbers
Yellow is usually equivalent to 6 inches on the map I posted. Because of the snow in the Sierras this week they probably had to adjust the scale to show a little more nuance in the model’s totals, otherwise the Sierras would have just been covered in solid red.
I had a dentist appointment I had to reschedule due to the last big snowstorm. My rescheduled date: tomorrow at 2pm. Seeing as my dentist is on the other side of town, I'll be rescheduling that too.

I had a haircut appointment for the 27th of December (or whatever day after Christmas that we got a lot of snow) and had to cancel. It was rescheduled for the day of the blizzard and I finally got it it cut last Tuesday. The annoying thing was that it literally hadn't snowed between those two weeks.
Don’t reschedule for June, Man. I’ve liked the snow storms this year, but I’m sure I’ll be tired of them by June, FFS!
