***Bowl Games Thread***

It shouldn't, I agree. I used to be against playoff expansion, but it needs to happen.

It absolutely sucks, and has made for a very borin
For better or worse that’s pretty accurate. It sucks if you have a great year and want an equal chance, but history feeds the narrative and perceptions.

Benefit of doubt shouldn’t have a role in rankings, but everybody has a bias and there is no perfect way of objectivity comparing teams that haven’t played each other in the regular season so unavoidable.

I just don't think people realize, that what this game does is give the CFP committee a free ticket to put anyone they want in the CFP regardless of record or season results. Who you play doesn't matter, your record doesn't matter, whether you follow rules doesn't matter. All that matters is the name of your program.

If you can't see how this hurts ISU, you are blind folks.

I can’t follow you off that cliff. They were undefeated conference champs. Lot of people seem to think OSU got some major bias to get in but in what scenario is that not getting anyone into the playoff, I mean ISU was damn close when they had two losses.

Osu has earned the benefit of the doubt. Teams like iowa and isu have not.

Looks like osu is proving it right now.
I just don’t get who people think should have been in instead. OSU was 2-0 vs the last CFP top 25. A&M was 1-1. Cincy is going to finish with no wins vs ranked teams. Oklahoma was 3-1 but also had a loss to a team with a losing record.
So if OSU added a win vs Illinois and Maryland would people be happy?

Well losing 3 games may have been a factor.

I wish we could have picked only our six best wins and considered our season as 6-0!

We played 5 more games than tOSU did this year. That's 5 more chances at losses than tOSU had.

I'm not saying we deserved to be in at all.... we didn't. We never should have even been #6.... and I said that.

But the committee used the "eye test" this year to determine the top 4, not resume's. That's not right IMO. A&M had a much better resume than tOSU IMO..... and it's pretty obvious now that ND had no business even being in the top 5 even.
The main thing we learned today was that ND was WAY overrated.... so was Clemson.... and the ACC was terrible.

Man, tOSU came in amped up and ready to kick the **** out of Clemson.
Much more physical from the little bit I've seen them earlier this year.

It would actually be kind of interesting if this is how it worked every year. It might encourage teams to schedule a lot more good games in the noncon.

Exactly. If winning games doesn't trump simply not playing games, then just have the committee just come watch your spring practice and pick the national championship right there. What the **** is the point of playing the games.

That is exactly what this year has allowed to be the precedent going forward.

If all you care about is your ranking.... then ISU should have not played in the Big 12 Championship game and claimed they had Covid..... and they would not have dropped from 6 to 10. In fact, they should have stayed at 6 in that case because tOSU never dropped a spot in the rankings by not playing..... so why should ISU?

tOSU was more rested and fresh.

Just kidding..... calm down. That's not why Clemson got destroyed. Although it does help playing half the number of games.

I'm perfectly calm. Ohio State good and kicked Clemson's butt.

Name the team that had a better resume. People keep wanting these teams like A&M and Cincy they didn’t beat good teams. At least OSU beat NW and Indiana.

So is Lawrence still no. 1 pick? Fields has been incredible in this head to head. He got Drew Breesed in the ribs and has thrown 6tds. Impressive game.
