I saw a defender trying to stay lower than a guy going to the ground in order to avoid the helmet to helmet contact. It was a bang bang play, I saw no harmful intent at all. But that isn't the rule.

Probably should have just gone for the old two-hand touch since Fields isn't one of the best athletes in the game. It was not a dirty hit in any way. Get out of here with that crap. Targeting by rule? Yep, dumb as it may be. But if you think that was a dirty hit stop watching football.
I guess one thing that makes it look a little dirtier to me is he was ejected for the same thing last year in the national title game. So you could argue that he has a bit of a history doing this. Do I think he was meaning to make a dirty hit? I don't know, but I don't think he should get as much of the benefit of the doubt
OU is a better team right now than Clemson and ND. I understand the regular season has to count but they didn't get the 4 best teams in the playoff.
I really cut back on watching the show a lot because of him. Its not because he’s a Hawk, it’s because he’s a doosh.
I think by rule it is targeting and is an ejection.... but the rule is beyond stupid.
These coaches HAVE to teach these kids how to tackle correctly or they will continue to have their players ejected all the time. You simply cannot lower your head and use it as a weapon. You need to keep it up and see what you are tackling. I think in that sense I hope the rule works and does end the lowering of the head with intent to injure. I cannot stand how poor the tackling technique has become.
However... ejecting players is dumb. It affects the outcome of the game too much. Maybe it should take two targeting calls in a game to get thrown out? Maybe you should have to sit for the rest of the quarter or something?
And what about when a runner on offense lowers their head? That is just as dangerous and should be called the same way if safety is the concern.

I think it was very obvious Jeremy was talking about on a national level. The Going Camping in My RV Camper Bowl isn’t considered the national stage.
You do realize that a team can be good but still not elite? Beating ISU last year is a bit different from being good enough to matter in the playoffs.
ND is like Texas or Michigan - always hyped as back and never able to prove it.
Apparent that the Clemson guy calling plays in place of their OC is calling random plays and not setting things up.
the committee or ESPN never once mention that since OU got Stevenson and Perkins eligible, they are undefeated, including beating us, a team that beat them prior without those guys. That's tangible evidence that they improved and were a different type of team than that one that lost two early games. The "experts" never brought those factors into the debate.
Based on what we have seen so far OU and A&M should have been in the championship series instead of Clemson and ND. Just so hard to tell when there are no out of conference games.
