And we were all getting along so well...
I thought Phase II was going to last until around noon tomorrow and then after a holiday hiatus we'd get started on Phase III this weekend. Looks like I missed that prediction.

As far as the analytic discussion, and thanks to everyone for their input, I've determined that the ISU run defense works like this: Out of a 3-3 stack with your outstanding corner #26 in tight press man on one side, the ball is snapped and the safety rotates over to the cloud and inputs a pass code which teleports the rest of the defense to the line thereby creating an impenetrable wall of meat from sideline to sideline.

I am, of course, being facetious, but I've taken away that one of the keys to watch in the game is the Oregon rushing offense versus the Cyclones rushing defense. Should be a great battle.

I also intend to drink too much beer tonight and take a run at making some Cyclone memes. Brace yourselves, I expect they will terrible. All in fun though right?

Not sure if Cristobal is known for being hyperbolic, but this is good to have this reputation

I think our overall team speed is better so while we don't have a DeAnthony Thomas or LaMichael James on Offense for that top end speed, I think the team as a whole is bigger and faster from the Chip Kelly days. Its certainly a bigger team, especially on defense and our OC Moorhead has done a great job of scheming big plays open for guys to use their speed in space.

LaMike ran what a 4.45? I think the idea that Oregon had these special burners was kind of funny. The track guys like Dior Mathis and others never really amounted to much.

WVU isn’t even close to the level of Oregon, but I’m not sure if that was the comparison being made here. I think what he was trying to say Is that the feeling around this game and WVU game are similar.

I watched the WVU game highlights and that gamed ended in a blow out.

I guess the OP is feeling optimistic. We had such a good vibe going too.

On both sides of the ball, I would most definitely concur. Wisconsin is probably right there.

Yeah I don’t think with the hindsight of the WVU result any fan thinks they are similar teams. I think it is more how we felt going into the game.

Fairly confident but most expected a close game. I think without the benefit of hardly any non-con games it is REALLY hard to predict games across conferences.

Considering all it took for him to launch the insults was the suggestion that your CMC would leave, it would seem I don't have the problem. That you can't let it go and feel the need to come back to this is your prerogative.

FYI, the "Matt Campbell is gonna leave for <insert random school name>" schtick is our version of your "Nike pays players". It's not original and has been done to death. The difference is we also get to hear about it from the talking heads at ESPN every single second we're mentioned in a positive light.

If you had to hear some idiot broadcaster insinuate that Nike must be paying players to come to Oregon every time an Oregon highlight comes on, you'd be really tired of it. So, yeah, opposing fans coming to our board with that crap gets old and trollish.

Both sets of fans have a right to be proud of our teams and I think the game will be a fun one. We don't have a long storied tradition of football success, but we are extremely proud of the direction we are going. We're humble, but we're also ready to be taken seriously. Campbell has instilled a different culture here and fans that suffered through decades of terrible football are not about to let our recent progress go without a fight.

We have our share of idiots, but we love talking football with other fan bases. And if you were to come to a game at Jack Trice and walk through the tailgates, you wouldn't walk away hungry or thirsty.

Duck lifer here...Well If that is the case I’d love to get ISU for a home and home in the near future because I do like to eat and drink. Looking forward to the game next week, Happy Holidays ISU fans and of course...Go Ducks!

You know what's funny? Matt Campbell was mentioned by many Oregon fans after "One Year Willie" stiffed us, but the prevailing logic at the time was "Campbell's not going anywhere."

Coach Campbell, please direct your kick-offs into the concession stands.

Sincerely

I'm much more worried about RBs going up the middle than to the outside. There are gaps to be had if the scheme is done well.

Oklahoma actually ran an interesting play that worked well two separate times. They ran a play-action to the RB, had him stall at the line, and then released him up the middle for a dump-off after our MLB became engaged. It takes time to develop, but I was pretty impressed with that little twist.

You need not worry too much about the return game, it hasn’t been explosive this year.

That Oklahoma play reminds me a bit of this beauty they ran with RB Travis Dye, where the QB fakes a keeper up the middle and pulls up with a pass
Angle 1:
Angle 2:

They have also ran this wheel route to Dye, getting three big gains of ~70 out of it.

This back and forth over this is lame. If you think I've said anything ban-worthy or have even bashed your program then go do it already.

What's funny is that you expect me to take hostile insults and that I'm to accept it, yet when I send a tepid barb back in response, you freak out as if I just excoriated your program and fans and that its unacceptable.
OK. We still wish our Oregonian friends well, for now. I declare inter-galactic peace until Jan. 2. Then all bets off!

Haha.
