'Last Christmas' by Wham!

Yep it is.

Mariah Carey's 'All I Want For Christmas' is probably in that boat too for 'recent' classics.

It's a god awful song that should never be played again by anyone in any scenario. Same with Paul McCartney's "Wonderful Christmastime" and John Lennon's "Happy Xmas (War is Over)"

It really is so terrible, and I even ironically listen to some Wham! on 80s playlists. I don't understand how "Wonderful Christmastime" and "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)" can be so terrible. They're just so terrible. Full disclosure, I also don't really care much about Pentatonix.

I actually don't mind those songs but perhaps it's more nostalgia than anything. Like, I'm not going to listen to them for any other reason. But I don't think there are that many Christmas songs that are actually good and I have a few other thoughts about Christmas after this year that I'll not get into. :)

Agreed on Pentatonix though. They harmonize really generic versions of whatever they're covering and took the soul out of 'Hallelujah'.

Wham! Last Christmas is def a Holiday staple. I used to hate it, but it has grown on me over the years. I personally think the Wham! version is the only version that should be played - much like I think Mariah's 'All I want for Christmas' and Elvis' 'Blue Christmas' are the only versions of those that should be played. For what its worth, my wife hates 'Last Christmas'.

I cringe every time McCartney's 'Wonderful Christmastime' comes on. Possibly the worst (regularly played) Christmas song ever.

90% of Christmas music is absolute trash.

I like the version of All I Want For Christmas is You from Vince Vance and the Valiants too.

Yes, Wonderful Christmastime by McCartney is not just the worst song ever made, it is the single worst collection of sounds assembled in the history of mankind.

If there was ever a song that could completely negate the work of a Beatle and make him a net negative in the overall landscape of music, that might be it. It's like a little kid getting a keyboard for the first time, and keeps cranking up the reverb as the song goes on until it's maxed out. Then he decides it's not enough and hits the same note multiple times.

Just awful.
