Wrestle Offs

Yeah that was the only one I considered surprising. Cabanban has been solid in opens, but Reeves was a high-level recruit. Maybe he’s still too undersized right now?

Hopefully Knopick can hold 125 when he gets here.
Did his knee ever fully heal?

I’ve always been impressed with the talent of Cabanban. I think he can continue to develop into a solid backup who pushes for some mat time later in his career.

What is wrong with Kysen? Will the freshman wrestle if they win the wrestle offs?

Reeves, as you mention, is small and he did blow an ACL. He has time to grow yet, but he might not ever really get there. If nothing else, he is a great dude to have in the room.

Iowa HS wrestling just is not what it used to be. Reeves, Bennett, etc. have not exactly been ready for prime time out of the gate. They may end up being productive D1 wrestlers, but time will tell. There is just way too much of a jump from really good HS to good D1. Some, if not many, are not ready for the transition and grind of getting whupped on a daily basis. It is tough for guys that have spent 4-6 years dominating to adjust to being a tackling dummy for a couple of years and somehow make gains. I hope Reeves can adjust to the college game, assuming his injuries are behind him.

It’s not like Reeves was only good in Iowa. He’s a 5x Fargo AA.

It's not like everything is a total loss for Reeves. Cabanban is pretty tough. Last year he beat Missouri's NQ Dack Punke 4-2. He also lost in sudden victory 13-11 to Indiana's NQ Liam Cronin. You know, the same Liam Cronin that Reeves beat that day 11-9. It's great that they have the opportunity to battle every day and get better.

It’s unfortunate. I had high hopes for Reeves coming in as such a high recruit.

don’t know if it’s the injury or size, but he just doesn’t look like he’s ever going to be a significant part of the lineup.
