***Official College Football Playoff Rankings***

When ISU was revealed as #9 he says something along the lines of "the biggest jump is Iowa State after just surviving Texas". When they talked more he said something along the lines "Texas let ISU have the game". Basically he was downplaying ISU beating Texas and isn't a fan of us at #9.

As another poster said, he has consistently ranked us among the lowest (if the lowest) in all of his AP poll ballots.
What did Rece even mean by “ Texas let ISU have the game”? What an @$$!

Helped? How Reece Davis? Texas tried a fake punt that will usually work, but ISU made a great play. Texas goes for it on 4th and 1. Most teams like Texas get that one yard. ISU made another great play. ISU sacks a great scrambling QB to force a 57 yard FG??? Give ISU a little credit Reece.
He didn’t watch the game.

Georgia rated that high is a joke. They have beaten only one team with a record at or better than .500; Auburn. Who will lose this week to Texas A&M and will be 5-4. Lolz

I don't know where to put this question so here is as good a spot as any. Can someone refresh my memory on how much Covid has affected our opponents this season, either in severely limiting practice during the week of the game or player losses when we played them?

Kansas State is the only one I can recall but I'm sure there were more I missed.

I haven't had any complaints for the CFP committee this year. They have had us as one of the highest two-loss teams each time. I think last week we were right where we belonged and this week at #9 is higher than I expected.

Not sure where the "no respect" angle comes in. We lost to UL. Even though it was week one, its still a loss and it makes it a tough argument to put us any higher than 8th or 9th

I hate the CFPC in that it even exists and in how they dropped TCU from 3 to 6 for no reason a few years ago...but they've consistently been more fair to ISU than the AP poll these past few years any time we've shown up in it.

Every team ranked in front of us has quality wins or is unbeaten, there's no good argument for us to be ahead of any of those 8.

The AP poll hasn't been that way this year.

Rare air for ISU football to be sure.

He's a moron.

Imagine if Texas had come up to Ames to play in the cold on the same day.

Home field still means something even in this odd year.

ISU went down there, got off to a rough start, then our defense stomped Mensa's squad.

Any road win against a ranked team is earned.

I think we have an outside shot at the playoffs given the rankings. Here are some things that could help:

  • ISU beating West Virginia and winning the Big 12 title by beating Oklahoma a second time
  • Oklahoma winning out until losing to ISU in the Big 12 championship game
  • Oklahoma State winning out and finishing highly ranked
  • Texas winning out and finishing ranked
  • Louisiana winning out and beating an undefeated Coastal Carolina team to finish in the top 20 or even top 15
  • Tulsa, whose only loss is to Oklahoma State, winning out and beating Cincinnati
  • Teams ahead of us getting upset
  • Ohio State not playing enough games to qualify for the Big Ten championship game
  • No Pac-12 teams finishing undefeated

Big 12 really needs to ratchet up the point that the committee claimed that 12 games wasn't enough data points to get into the playoff.

If only 12 games was really bad...6-9 games should be completely disqualified.

Do we jump idle Georgia and Cincinnati after today's game? Where do you all think we land this week? I'm thinking we jump Georgia...idk about Cinci.

Golic during the game: “BYU absolutely deserves to be ranked much higher. OSU definitely deserves to be top 4 right now.”
What an idiot.

2 lose Iowa State isn't getting in but beating Oklahoma in 2 weeks sets us up really well next year especially with a soft non con highlighted by an overrated Iowa.

Golic sees everything from the viewpoint of the entitled elitist that believe the CFP is there's to lose.

Well, Georgia didn't play this week.
And Cincinnati didn't play this week.
In the committees eyes, we are the team right below them that showed them something worthy of jumping certainly Georgia...and maybe even Cincinnati. I would be shocked if we got as high as 7. But I was shocked they jumped from 12 to 9. There's something this committee really loves about this ISU team. So we'll see Tuesday night.

We most likely stay put at #9, possibly passing Georgia, but the Cyclones did shut up the 'over-rated' talking heads and fans doubting Iowa State with their stupid game posters.
