Wanna be shock jock. Travis spouts BS just for the sake of being "edgy" and "not PC".

I think he is the worst "sports" radio hosts on Des Moines radio. His interviews are atrocious and his attempts at being funny often backfire (See: interview with Ben Jacobsen after UNI had dropped something like 5 straight).

He's just like Ross in that he's not going to give an opinion, he's going to tell you something as if it's fact, as if he's lived enough of a life to know the truth and you, the listener, are just too dumb to understand the truth.

When MSU was going through the Nassar trial and Shawn Johnson came forward with allegations of abuse, the first thing he said was, "Well, why is she just coming forward now?". This was AFTER they had the writers of the ESPN story on to talk about how awful Nassar was.

The morning the guy in Des Moines killed two cops, Travis was very adamant that he wanted to do Sean's Morning Dump still. End the show with a funny moment, right!? Two cops were gunned down, the shooter was at large, Heather is married to DSMP's most known cop...and he wanted to lighten things up.

I could go on and on about what an awful radio personality and human Travis is, but I'm going to end it with his pathetic desire to live vicariously through Sean.

I honestly used to just leave my radio dialed in and never change, but in the morning when I drive to work change from 106.3 (was on from previous drive home) as it's so predictable as you mentioned (wanna be shock jock, Sean his dopey side kick, Heather trying to balance it all out)

1. Its a morning show. Not a "sports" show.
2. I mean how can the guy still bother people? You know what you are getting.
3. Its entertainment... understand that.
4. Dan Patrick does not start until 8, we need something before then.

It would be nice to have a reasonable local sports show at a time when lots of people are in their car. Just because they brand it not a sports show doesn’t make it suck any less. It would be nice if they approached the show as if they had listeners they should try to entertain. Instead it’s just co-workers having a conversation leaning heavily in schtick that was never funny, but now is unfunny and old.
The great thing is every poor show that station has had on at that time has touted their ratings. As if being the only thing that remotely resembles a local sports show on the major local station at a.m. drive time is some accomplishment.
National shows are fine, but if I don’t want to listen to hours of Tom Brady, Cowboys, and LeBron then I am largely out of luck.

Yeah I agree with you. In this particular case I just don't think Travis wasn't looking at the big picture. People recording themselves celebrating had nothing to do with a "missed field goal". This was a ll about the program hitting a level most believed could never happen. Travis doesn't hate on Iowa State like a lot of people are claiming. Honestly, if you want to flick someone $hit it should be Heather, She does a really poor job being the Iowa State voice on that show.

Yeah I think it has to be an act. I don’t think Sean is some misunderstood genius, but I don’t think he’s the half-wit that show makes him out to be.

Shtick or not, at some point I’d have too much pride to keep going along with that every morning

In the days before I listened to podcasts on my way to work, I regrettably listened to the Morning Rush. When it was Travis and Ross, dear god it was awful. Every episode would get sidetracked by either one of them laughing uncontrollably, talking about boobs, butts, farts, whatever.
