I think running out Harris/Bolton/Coleman-Lands/Jackson could be a fun backcourt. We could get some pretty solid play from Solo-Conditt at the 5. Javan can just fit in and do a little bit of everything. I think they could get to .500 in the B12.

I voted postseason non-NCAA berth, as I feel that upon witnessing the incredible power of this team, NBA commissioner Adam Silver will extend the Western Conference #6 seed to this team.

If they go 9-9, much less 10-8, in the Big 12 they will be comfortably in the field. The Big 12 has 5 teams that are #5 seeds or better in the dance. If we go better than 6-12 I would be pleasantly surprised.

That's true, 10-8 would be a lock if the top 4 or 5 perform as highly as projected. Assuming we don't completely tank in non-conference, of course. (I think i had "8-10" in my head as being bubble material).

I think we finish right around .500 in conference. I think this team will shoot so much better than last years team and can't be any worse defensively. I picked us to make the NCAA as I think it may be expanded as there will be a huge disparity in number of games teams will play due to COVID. Since fans are not being allowed more games means more TV revenue for the struggling athletics budgets.

Prohm will obviously get a pass this year, but I think it will go a long way if he can get this team to around .500 in conference play (or even 7-11) and a fringe bubble/NIT type of year. A lot to build on for next year if he can do that. If they flail around and go 5-13 or worse, that is bad news, but is it necessarily a let down given the landscape of the sport this year and what our expectations are as fans? He'll be back in 21-22 regardless of the answer
Why would he obviously get a pass? I think his seat will get red hot if they aren’t competitive, especially at home. Last or near last 3 of 4 years won’t sit well.

Probably won't be red hot but ISU fans hate losing at home. The defense hopefully won't be worse than last yr it was pitiful.

5 or 6 conf wins is my guess, I just want to see consistent effort and improvement by year end, which we haven’t seen in prohms tenure all the time, hell there were times the last couple years we had guys flat out not playing hard and not making any secret of it

I don’t see how home court matters much for Iowa state this year with so few fans

I'm thinking we go around .400 in conference

That's about what I'm thinking too. But it's really way too early to tell with all the newcomers there will be.

I'm worried about team chemistry on the court, and the lack of shooters. There was a time when all 5 guys on the court for us could hit 3's (Fred era). Now we're lucky if we have more than 1 player out there that can knock down 3's. That has really hurt us over the last several years IMO.

With how good the conference is this year, 8-10 could get you into the NCAA.

I think we have more talent than last year, but too much youth and new faces to overcome.

Agree on the talent for sure. Do you think that new faces and youth means we need a more structured offensive system. Free-flow works great when you have players that have playing together for years, but when you don't...

Guessing we'll see a little more structure in the non-con as we work out kinks and get the guys used to each other. If they can gel we certainly have the athleticism to play loose.
