***Official College Football Playoff Rankings***

Northwestern hasn't beat anyone good. That's why I hate the big 10. Half of the conference is so bad that it makes for easy wins for the average teams and it makes them look good instead of average. But the media keeps pretending that they are a great conference.

Add to that the fact that they don’t play everyone so certain teams can get lucky and avoid the decent teams, beating a bunch of MAC level teams in a “P5 conference“ and thinking they are something special.

I don't think anyone is upset at ISU's ranking, just how absurdly overrated the Big Ten teams in the rankings are.
Correct I am shocked they ranked us at 13, so I am loving that pub. It’s all just fodder to chat about because these rankings literally do not matter. The committee has shown every year they reset each week and teams have massive swings week to week. A win at Texas could jump us back over OU next week for all we know because that’s a heck of win added to our resume.

Best case scenario for ISU from a CFP rankings resume standpoint:

ISU wins out and picks up quality wins over Texas and Oklahoma again

Oklahoma State wins out and moves up the rankings

Texas stays in the rankings after a loss to ISU

Louisiana runs the table and beats an undefeated Coastal Carolina team to finish in the final rankings

Tulsa runs the table and beats Cincinnati twice to improve Oklahoma State's resume

You have your opinion and I respect it. I am taking the stance of watching them, and they have a QB who is Heisman-level talent. They are obliterating their competition.
Remember what Brock did against ULM last year? If we played ULM every week (I’m not doing the math), would you say that he was a Heisman-level talent?

‘Cause that’s what BYU’s schedule is, outside of Boise.

**** BYU. Washington reached out to them to play and BYU said no thanks.

Per the article BYU was wanting to see how they'd be ranked by the playoff committee. Appears they thought Here's their current schedule

Win @ Boise State (4-1) Sagarin # 54
Win @ Houston (3-3) Sagarin # 66
Win Troy (4-4) Sagarin #96
Win LA Tech (4-3) Sagarin # 101
Win @ Navy (3-4) Sagarin # 103
Win UTSA (6-4) Sagarin # 115
Win Western Kentucky (4-6) Sagarin # 114
Win Texas State (2-9) Sagarin # 129
Win North Alabama (0-4) FCS

TBD SDSU (3-2) Sagarin # 83

Ya... Sagarin has the 3-2 hawks at #3 in the country so I’m not quite sure those are quality rankings you want to use.

Don’t use sagarin, it is pure junk this year.

Who cares? It's the first ranking in a Covid year. Bias is huge in a normal year, let alone this year. The B12 has to earn respect by winning playoff games.

We have to beat Texas.

These rankings go off image a lot. Look who the top 5-6 teams are. We don’t have that image so honestly we have to go undefeated to get to the playoffs or be a 1-2 loss conference champ for a couple years.

The only way the rankings matter to me is if we can make a New Year's 6 bowl. And we are probably starting high enough that if we beat TX & WV we go into the Big 12 title game where we have a good shot at a New Year's 6 win or lose.

Right now just embrace the publicity, and I don't feel ISU has ever really been slighted in the CFP rankings since 2017. There are always some bogus things that favor or hurt other teams, but I don't think the CFP committees have ever really slighted ISU. We are the third highest 2 loss team behind Georgia and OU. We are way ahead of 5-2/6-2 teams like Auburn, Okie St. and UNC, and are several spots ahead of 2 loss Texas. For much of the previous years ISU has been one of the top, if not the top ranked team given its number of losses.

ISU is getting national respect and it's unbelievable considering where we were 5 years ago. Being a regular in the CFP rankings for four years now tends to do that.

Enjoy the ride.

BYU didnt take that Washington game because they were afraid that it would get canceled. Well BYU was right because Washington is now playing Utah this weekend.
