***Official College Football Playoff Rankings***

Interestingly, @ChrisMWilliams just did an interview with David Bartoo about the CFP. Bartoo tried to pretend that the CFP is objective and C-Dubs just laughed and said it is stupid. I agree with Chris.

"Data points" are important. A few years ago we had a Big 12 team not make the Playoffs because it lacked the extra data point of a conference championship game. Yet, they are ranking teams that have played 3 games. What a joke!

Why do they wait until November to release these rankings? They assume that there will be enough data points. Well, that's all changed this year. Despite Bartoo's attempts to say that they are doing it just the same as last year, they aren't. They have never, ever ranked a team that has played only 3 games . . . until tonight.
Don't forget the need for a conference championship until Ohio State didn't need it and went in over Penn State. You know, the team that beat them H2H, won the division Ohio State played in AND won the conference Ohio State played in. Data points man. Data points.

Win the next two, don't get murdered in there CG and we're very likely in our first NY6 bowl.
Maybe. Remember that Washington State team we played in the Alamo Bowl? Finished 10-2 and #13 in the CFP Rankings behind four 3-loss teams. Now the polls and committee have generally seemed to give us the benefit of the doubt, but we need to win the Big 12 title to get a NY6 in my opinion.

This is a strange year, though. Obviously, how other teams do will impact our placing as well.

On this I can agree with you. With OU not going to the CFP, if ISU loses the conference championship game it's off to the Alamo Bowl.

Plenty of places to quibble with specifics of inclusion, placement, unbalanced schedules, etc. But I'd like to pause for a moment to indulge the fact Iowa State is ranked #13 — even with two losses.
I have zero complaints where ISU is at. It's actually a little higher than I thought. Outside of the top 7, the rankings are horrible. BYU is better than their ranking (even if that's moving ISU down a slot) and Louisiana should have been in there instead of Iowa. Oklahoma State at #23 is a travesty.

Great to see Joey getting it handed to him by the NW team.
The same Joey that said he doesn’t like analytics and prefers to watch the tape. He says watch the games, but do we trust him after his evaluation NW?

Ohio State is the only team in the big 10 that should be in there. Maybe Indiana.
I would say Ohio State and I'd give NW #15 maybe. Indiana was getting housed by Ohio State until Fields decided to just start throwing picks. Other than that, Indiana has an OT win against 0-5 Penn State (they suck something fierce), Rutgers, Michigan and Michigan State. And people are complaining about other team's schedules? Yikes to that one.

Oh for sure anything can happen and if they do allow fans, we all know Cyclone fans travel. 3 losses will be tough to jump in there though is just my feeling. Although like you said, so much can shift in the final rankings once all data is on the table. I.e. Texas A&M being ahead of Florida right now solely due to head to head. If Florida keeps winning they likely jump A&M.

Northwestern hasn't beat anyone good. That's why I hate the big 10. Half of the conference is so bad that it makes for easy wins for the average teams and it makes them look good instead of average. But the media keeps pretending that they are a great conference.

I'm curious how close UL was to being in top 25 -- seems like it'd have to be on the cusp. .
Yeah I would actually have put Louisiana in there over Tulsa and especially Iowa. The talking heads keep saying how Iowa had the early close losses to start 0-2 but have just been on tear since. Well they played Michigan State, Minnesota and Penn State, so yeah they probably do look better. Also, let's not act like Purdue is some great team that beat them close in Week 1 for them. Purdue is 2-2.
