Kansas State

The wind kept Brock at bay last year in Manhattan and allowed them to load up to stop Breece. His 71 total yards in that game is the worst of his career since he took over as the starter. They'll try to make Brock beat them again.

Agree. I think the Arizona boy struggles in adverse weather. See: Drake 2018

I'd actually like to see more scrambles/designed runs this weekend. Hold the ball a few times on the zone read to keep them honest.

With the utter apathy permeating that Drake game, why would anyone use it for an example of anything?

*other than utter player apathy, of course.

Is there any new update on how K-State is doing COVID-wise? Are they even going to be able to play?

I would have to think that things are trending in the right direction or K-State would be making the call already. Most of the cancellations have been pretty early in the week.

So, really positive, as in good, or as in many cases? ;)

Let me go over K-State just for fun.

First, the strength is the defensive front four. Klieman thinks it's the best in the B12. Wyatt Hubert, a junior, is expected to leave for the NFL. The other side, Kalid Duke, is a strong pass rusher. Both, at times, get caught rushing too wide. The tackles are solid but not Wyatt-good.

The backside linebackers and defensive backs are okay. AJ Parker is the best of the lot at nickel. Strong safety is a weakness and that may open-it-up for ISU's tight ends.

The real weakness though is at receiver. I've never seen such an inept bunch in all my years. Quarterbacks have put the ball-on-hands time-after-time only to see them dropped.

The offensive line, like ISU's, is starting to jell. They are big but not particularly angry. I don't see a Cody Whitehair or Dalton Risner out there at this point in time.

K-State's scatback, Deuce Vaughn, and tight end Briley Moore, if he plays, are difference makers.

Special teams are solid, not great. No David Allen. In fact, punting and field goal kicking have, at times, been disappointing.

If K-State can run the ball, ISU will be in danger. If not, it's curtains because the Wildcat receiving corps cannot be counted on to ring the bell particularly with the youngster at QB.

So, there's your scouting report.
