Is he our top target right now?
I hope we get him. Kid is a straight killer from deep. He is long, has good size, plays defense, and most importantly shooting from deep is his specialty. He is the 3rd wheel on his AAU Team so he is a bit under-rated imp. He would be a steal.

I hope so too! Other than Sallis he would be my top get. Pete Kaffey is his coach, however, and he is waiting until spring to sign so who knows what could happen. Hopefully Kaffey doesn’t “Vaughn” is again. I didn’t realize we were recruiting this kid?

I didn't neither. I had not seen his name pop up anywhere till this morning.

Without knowing much other than what I read on here, does Applewhite resemble Glen Rice?

Not to go backwards too much in the thread, but Payton's video reminded me more of Nader than Hogue. He's another one who's shooting dramatically improved under Prohm (e.g., when he learned what was a good shot versus a not-so-good shot).

Watching Applewhite I see a kid that moves like a smaller guard, has the ability to pull up with a silky smooth jumper but that can finish like a guy gifted with length and agility.

To me offensively he's a longer version on Shayok but will get drafted because he'll be in a system that highlights his talent rather than disguise like MS was bogged down in prior to finding his was to Ames.

I didn't watch all of his video, but his three stroke seemed was very deliberate-smooth yet precise. By that I mean even off the dribble it looked more like a spot up three catch and shoot shot rather than a "take my guy off the dribble and pull up quick and drain the three". Either way a lot to like!

2020 & 2021 are the classes our future will be built on. Applewhite is a perfect fit. Like to also see another big soon as Young and Conditt are upperclassmen. Another guy that can fill the four would be nice as well. Very possible the last two may not be found in 21 unless as a transfer.

I’ll be pleasantly surprised if ISU lands a commitment before end of year

Applewhite is said to be 6'8 now. He could fill that roll.

Height is only half the battle, I'd say Burton was better equipped to defend the four. Blackwell seems to be the best candidate if he can fill out a bit. But if Applewhite were able to add that type of strength he'd be a very dangerous attribute to our lineup.

At one point all the recruiting services listed him at 230 pounds. Not sure when his weight changed or if he was ever actually 230. If he was I could see the staff getting him back to that to play the 4 spot.
