getting tired of hearing about 90% - 95% effective covid vax. these numbers are just press releases pumping chest about how good.... not peer reviewed studies. who did they give this to? how many people? what is the age range?

I wish the media and general public had a better scientific understanding....

It was a 3rd party who analyzed the results. I believe for the Pfizer one it was like 40k people? Some got placebo and some got the vaccine. Around 95 tested positive for COVID w/ most of those being the placebo group and that is where the 90% comes from. That is my understanding. NYT Daily had a podcast on it that was pretty good.

I believe that information is available in the press release.

The stuff about Moderna's numbers is good news.

Wonder how many total get it ready by year's end...was the 20 million that might be available just Pfizer or was that presumed to be the total across all companies?

Is there info on getting the vaccine after having had Covid, such as how soon after having it would it be safe to get the vaccine?

Wondering about places like the Anamosa prison, which has 733 active cases out of 970 inmates. How soon after now would it be safe to vaccinate all the inmates?

I know I've seen it as still recommended to get one even if you had an infection since it's not known how much protection you have.

Wish we had information about what types of numbers/antibody/T-cell levels translate to strength or duration of protection.

You'd think that would cut down on the demand/supply.

Moderna's 94% effective vaccine can be stored in standard refrigeration conditions.

Pretty huge news.

Wear a mask until we get this to everyone. (go ahead and ban me for this)

I really wish there was a common public understanding of 'do what you can to help now, so you can get together with friends and family later' but I'm just not sure it's gonna happen.

Pfizer to start pilot program for vaccine distribution in 4 states. Hint on one of them, it's good to be a Texan.
