Dustin Hogue stats at IH
Fr = 10.6 points and 5.7 rebounds
So = 12.9 points and 5.4 rebounds
From what I recall, IH rotates a lot of players in because they're normally very talented for a JC and want to give everyone opportunity to get exposure.
Indian Hills lineups are really funky. They have a ton of talent every year and their coach likes to keep the minutes fairly equal. I mean he had the best player in juco last year and he only averaged 24 mpg. And to be fair, even Hogue only averaged 5.2 rpg at Indian Hills his sophomore year.
Hills does not play freshman as much as one would think. The Sophomores get the bulk of the mins. It was 5 rebounds my originally post was a bit off. Go back and look at Hogue's stats at Hills. Most people on here couldn't figure out why he even had an offer from Iowa State at the time.
The concern with Payton is that he isn't a 3 pt shooter. There were none in his highlights and his stats from last season reveal that he didn't make any (he was 0-2). As a 3 or 4 in a spread offense favored by Prohm, that isn't going to cut it unless he improves on that this upcoming season to an acceptable level.
You don't have to be a 3-point shooter to be an effective college basketball player. At 6'6" with a ton of athleticism, if you can be efficient within 10 feet, be a good defender and rebounder, you're going to see minutes.
Against the size of teams like WVU, BU, and KU? Too short, but against teams that go small and their 5 isn't some horse, maybe.
His 3 point shooting might be lacking, but if you put him on the floor with Foster next year does it matter as much?
6'6-6'7 is what I think of when I think of a small ball 5 although Burton did it at 6'4. But if you go with a lineup like this even tho Payton is around 6'7 you are technically going small but can go bigger in other positions and have mismatches all over. Rebounding may take a small hit but offensively they could really get going

C- Payton 6'7
I think everything else he brings to the floor make up for the poor shooting from 3 point land.
You could play him with Foster and you'd still have four 3-point threats on the court. Payton with Conditt might be an issue.
