The 10.5 sample size is not adequate compared to 8 seasons of obvious data.
My solution to address an obvious need has some question marks but it's a better solution than bringing in a kid who was run off by a non P6 program, who doesn't address the obvious offensive need based on 2 seasons at that program and clearly didn't address the need for immediate defensive perimeter length (while compromising Prohm's stated desire to successfully switch all perimeter matchups).
I lol'd at your point we
shouldn't want Harris because he comes from the American while we
should have wanted Buggs, who comes from the Big West. The American is a
way superior conference to the Big West.
For context, the American was the #7 best conference nationally last year by SRS.
The Big West was #19.
Merrill Holden came from Louisiana Tech in C-USA. That was the #13 conference last year.
Jeff Beverly came from UT-San Antonio, which is also in C-USA.
Prentiss Nixon came from Colorado State in the Mountain West, which was the #9 conference last year.
Buggs is from a conference that is a step down even the weak conferences those guys came from.
Your "obvious need" is only obvious if you have a mentality about basketball offenses appropriate for decades long gone. It is not even a correct reading of how Prohm prefers to use his PGs.
A Prohm PG is not just a "distributor," but a high-usage guy actively looking to create for himself and others. Canaan and Payne led his Murray State teams in usage and scoring. Prohm converted Monté from a distributor who mostly deferred to Niang and the other scorers on the roster to a high-usage combo guard and who led the team in scoring his senior year, even over powerful offensive threats like Naz, Burton, and Matt hunting their own shots.
Nick was used aggressively, and so was Haliburton, in this role. And so was Bolton, who I would probably guess is going to do the most initiating and creation for us on offense next year.
I have no idea how you think a guy who wasn't very good in the Big West and absolutely cannot shoot (his 35.6% TS against Top 100 foes and 15.0% against Top 50 foes are just obscene) is going to fix
any problems for us.
