Blackwell, how much PT will he see?

I've read here he's impressing. Without a true PG is it possible Blackwell starts at the four with Johnson taking a more active role running the offense?

Jackson and Harris seem to be the favorites to take the fifth starter spot but having another guy with length on the floor couldn't hurt.

My Starting 5 projections
1. Tre Jackson/Tyler Harris (A bit of a toss up here)
2. Bolton
3. JCL
4. Javon Johnson
5. Solo/Conditt (Toss up here as well)

I think Bolton and JCL are pretty locked into those spots right now. But I still think we see a lot of Blackwell if the smoke is true. I don't think he would quite scratch the starting 5 for me right now though. Lots of good smoke for Tre Jackson right now too.

I doubt that happens because then you're insinuating JCL or Bolton doesn't start. Bolton's an obvious starter and I'm hearing the staff likes what JCL has been doing.

1. Jackson
2. Bolton
3. JCL
4. Johnson
5. Solo

Bench: Harris, Conditt, Blackwell, XF

Young, Johnson, Bolton and JCL are the obvious 4 starters i was referring to.

What makes you think Jackson starts?
Not disagreeing, just looking for some incite.

I'm hearing he's been playing extremely well on both ends of the court and he's coming along nicely at the PG position. Bolton is going to have the ball in his hands a ton but Tre has made big strides since last year in his handle and distribution of the ball.

Team's upside is best off without Harris or Jackson as starters. So hoping Javan and Bolton can handle the facilitator roles which would then enable Blackwell to start. Also hoping that Conditt starts over Solo to provide more rim protection. Bolton, JCL, Javan and Blackwell as starters best enable switching against 1-4s that Prohm openly desires with Conditt as the rim protector.

Also, a ton of rumblings from the crowd Tre was playing with this summer in Georgia (I think?).

Also, his defensive quickness. I am guessing he will guard the other team's best guard.

Good to hear.

Curious about Dubar as well.

Are we going to see Foster at the four at all?

It's for sure going to get thrown in there, but I wouldn't count on it being a consistent thing unless there's tremendous success with it.

Listening to Prohm, he seemed intent on having Bolton play the point—with working Walker into the role, as he did with Tyrese his freshman year, the next consideration.

That leaves me with:

1. Rasir Bolton
2. Jalen Coleman-Lands
3.
4. Javan Johnson
5. Solo/Conditt

...with Conditt fitting the “run the floor” mentality better.

That leaves me with either Walker at the 2, or Blackwell/Dubar at the 3.

Personally, I think that Harris is a spark off the bench, and Jackson handles the reserve ball handling duties.

I think that Xavier Foster is still working his way into a Big XII focus—but I’d love to see him and Conditt on the court together.

(and Hinson would have fit perfectly with the top 4)

IMO Blackwell's minutes are just as dependant on his defense/rebounding as his offense.

Prohm can talk at length about how great it would be to have interchangeable defenders at 1-4. And having good 3 point shooters as well at the 1-4 positions.

But small ball teams need to be solid rebounding teams. If Blackwell can rebound at a high level, he could easily play 20-25 mpg.

Kind of a play a Patrick Beverley role, while Bolton is the guy with the ball in his hands.

Defensive rebounding has been the Achilles of ISU Bball throughout the Prohm era. If Blackwell can clean the defensive glass he should be starting.

I got a Melvin Ejim vibe from his highlight tapes. Just seems like a relentless player. If he can bring energy and effort, I think he'll get his share of minutes.
Could you point me to those highlight tapes? I have really only seen AAU type stuff from him, and he looks very laid back in that atmosphere (as most players are). Would love to see some high level game tape rather than just highlights as well.
