Anyone here had to file a lemon law in Iowa for their vehicle? Success? Failure? Frustrations? Anything to share?

I did about 14 years ago. The transmission kept going out and they couldn't figure out why. After several trips to the dealership, I filed for the lemon law and succeeded without really any issues. It was well documented, so that certainly helped. I was even refunded all the money I had paid towards the loan.

thx...how long did the process take?

Sold back to consumers probably.

in iowa, if a car is deemed a lemon, it's required to be disclosed as such in any subsequent sales...which is why many manufacturers like to work out lemon issue prior to official filings with state attorney general offices.

if they can purchase the car back from you, fix it and resell it, they don't stand to lose as much as if they put the lemon tag on it.

i'm simply wondering how it works in real time/life from a customer standpoint

What happens to the car after you file and succeed?
I was told that my car was going back to the factory for the engineers to dissect. No one could figure out what was making the transmission go out. Very odd.

haven't had to on any vehicles yet. but yes most dealers/manufactures will try to work with you first to get the issue fixed, and often times it goes to a higher management chain as soon as you say you want to lemon a vehicle.
what issues are you currently having that have you asking?

I would be very surprised to see the factory have any cars come back their way. But on the other hand, no idea where the lemons actually land.

i'm fairly educated (now that i've been forced to research it) on the Iowa Lemon Law, which is pretty clear. I've learned over the past few days that car manufacturers DO understand the state law very well...and try to be proactive to avoid having a car deemed a lemon. Doing so means they have to label it a lemon and disclose that prior to any sale...if they simply purchase it back prior to being called a lemon, they can put it right back on the lot...which is a BS move, IMO.

In my case, I have a brand new vehicle that has leaked from the roof since the day it was delivered. It's been in 4 times for the same issue (which by Iowa law classifies it as a lemon) and I'm looking to see if people have any experience with either manufacturers repurchasing the vehicle or replacing it or simply buying me out.
