Friday OT #1 - Just STFU

"Hang tough"
"Pecking away" (at something)
"Just living the dream"
"Not a lot" (when asked what he's doing on the phone)

These are all hackneyed expressions my a$$hat of a boss uses daily. His speech patterns are so dull and predictable it's not even funny.

Of course, I can't stand him, either. Which may color my opinion somewhat.

Another thing that bugs me, and it’s not what people say, but I hate it when people don’t have a signature in their emails. This includes every email, not just your first. Outlook has a drop down where you can apply your signature to every email.
I dislike auto entry signatures. I sign my first email but many times back and forth I won’t. Probably best if we never email each other. :)

I have a full signature block for initial emails and a separate abbreviated one for replies. Both are automatically applied to the appropriate emails. I want people to be able to easily call me if they need to.

It bugs me when I need to call someone and all they put on every one of their emails is:

Ted

I can waste a lot of time trying to track down how to get a hold of them.

Let's unpack that

That's a heavy lift

Don't have the bandwidth

1. "happen organically"

(full disclosure I never used to hear this until I took a job that has an atypical corporate structure for my profession)

What in the actual f#ck is that supposed to mean? In my line of work if it's not thought, drawn, and built it doesn't mean sh%t. And somebody has to be responsible for conforming to a budget and schedule. I've found that "happen organically" is some f&cked up code for "I'm not doing that" or "you figure it out" but ambiguous enough to actually do damage to a project.

There's carbon in it.

There's one dude on my work team (whom I hired ... regrettable mistake) who tends to ramble with his explanations or stories. When getting him to cut to the point, he always quips "to make a long story longer...". Hilarious, bud.

"Did you get my email?"

Whether they are calling, in person, or sending another email, the question is irrelevant. Just ask me what you needed in the first place. I'm sure I got the email but either have not read it or have not had time to respond. (With the first option being most likely! :) )

I will probably get hammered on here for this one but....

"Okay Boomer"

Probably one of the laziest, least original, and annoying responses regularly seen on this site. And for the record, I am not a boomer.
