I had to respond to an email just now that I'd received on Monday, and the opening line was "Happy Monday!" I don't know why, but it makes me stabby - probably because the author of said email will totally send me an email today saying "TGIF!" fifteen times. He also says "things that make you go 'hmm'" in a totally earnest way that doesn't at all reference the crappy C+C Music Factory song. And it's all just so bland and unoriginal that it makes me roll my eyes.

What are certain phrases or things that people text/Snap/email/whatever to you that make you groan?

My current list:

“In these troubled times...”
“In these uncertain times...”
“Just wait the weather will change in a minute” - if the weather does not, in fact, drastically change in the next two minutes, can I beat you with your own shoes??

I worked with a project manager once that must have had a book of stuff to say that makes you sound cool which of course had the exact opposite effect. I wish I could remember some of the stupid things he would say.
A couple I absolutely hate are
"Hi team"
"++ or Looping" when they forward an email chain and expect me to read through it to figure out what they want because they're too stupid to comprehend the situation.

People ripping on C+C music factory. They were it in the early 90s

I honestly don't enjoy "STFU" as an acronym, either, but I couldn't type out the whole phrase.

My boss always says "its 6 in one hand, half dozen in the other" when trying to explain a decision he made and "part of it" when referring to anything to goes wrong at work. It drives me and everyone else I work with nuts.

People who use trade acronyms with people who aren't in that trade. Daughters guidance counselor loves to use them in emails to me. I usually have to respond to what does xxxxx mean. Slows the whole process up.

People who want to make the decision for me. The previously mentioned person likes to fight me every step of the way to avoid a little extra work, even though I did 98% of the legwork for my daughter, and by the time it's done had tripled the work they would have needed to do and found out that I had already researched the options and had a long term plan to take care of everything.

"Let's table that topic for another time/conversation"
"Let's take this conversation offline"

Those are 2 ones that seem to come up on conference calls or emails with several people on that is basically code for either they don't want to answer a question or address the topic or they possibly want to limit who hears their response. Kind of a cop out at times when someone is put on the spot.
