Counter checks were amazing. The local bank had to know their customers buying habits / signature to check if things looked odd. I bet there was less identity theft back then compared to today?

I wonder how often they checked the signatures. I have no data either way, but people normally haven't done more than they had to.

Food also tasted terrible due to lack of refrigeration/freezer and no to little science behind seasoning, cooking, and flavor.

Pretty sure refrigeration has been around for longer than that although it may have been more for the Jones's of the world.

Our modern 'advances' have tricked us into thinking everything needs to taste amazing as opposed to being nutritionally critical.

I'd be able to grow veggies to have food. Since I work mostly in IT, not much there in 1900!!

The only way I could think of surviving would be to find some land I could claim for free and rent it out somehow. I guess I could run a hotel/restaurant as I’m a decent cook. But to me, it’s going out to claim land (for free) in an area I know is going to grow and try and rent out rooms. This is assuming I am able to retain real estate trends.
