I am now at the point I don't want to be at the games. I would rather have them with no fans if that is an option. At least I can watch on TV. There is no way we will be at JTS in 68 days.

I am no longer certain that football will be played, or that if it does there will be any fans. I have said repeatedly that in this country $ almost always wins. But, in light of our unquestionably worst in the world Covid response, I think things look much more questionable than ever before. Reopening before any logical criteria was met was absolutely ridiculous, and will (has) result in massive illness and unnecessary death. If we had done like Europe and opened based upon science, we would be in a manageable situation, as opposed to today’s totally out of control situation. Sadly, it may now be too late to put the genie back in the bottle. By simply reading this board one can easily see why our national response is such a train wreck. I now think football be be a casualty too.Seattle has a similar law...$1,000 fine or jail time.
The infection and death rates per capita in Europe compared to the United States are virtually the same.....The bottom line is that the stupid politicization of Covid in the US hasn't really had much of an impact.I am no longer certain that football will be played, or that if it does there will be any fans. US- 4% of worlds population, 25% of deaths. Discuss. The infection and death rates per capita in Europe compared to the United States are virtually the same.....The bottom line is that the stupid politicization of Covid in the US hasn't really had much of an impact.

One needs to look at trends and most recent data. The EU has 440m people, much more densely populated and an older population than the US. All negative factors. As near as I could tell, they had 50 deaths yesterday vs 250 for US. Ultimately cases and deaths are related, although not necessarily directly proportional. The death rate is pretty much the same but the infection rate is much higher in the US.

That is a different discussion but I do find the Europe/US comparison fascinating. Some thoughts but no facts to back the following up. Authoritarian governments can implement lockdowns with no fear of dissent. Bad overall but useful in a pandemic. Also I think people are far less mobile on the majority of the planet as compared to US and Europe mostly due to economic reasons. This probably significantly slows the spread of infection. Finally, I think in third world countries there is probably a lack of testing and therefore no diagnosis. Also quite frankly in a large part of the world that lacks modern medicine many of the people that Covid 19 is killing in the US/ Europe would already be dead. Most of the victims are in pretty bad health but are still alive because of modern medicine and unfortunately Covid19 is the knockout punch to chronically sick or very old people.US- 4% of worlds population, 25% of deaths. To believe that's true, you would have to believe that China, Russia, Iran and several others are reporting anywhere near accurate numbers.
I'm sure our numbers aren't perfect but does anyone really believe that China only has 4700 deaths?
You can’t have it both ways. “Authoritarian regimes have it easier because they can effectively and efficiently control their populace without moving outside their current structure” and “we can’t believe anything that comes out of an authoritarian country”.
I can believe both of these but only one is likely true.
3 DM Lincoln softball players have tested positive, this just after Principal Park was closed after a staff member tested positive. The entire Lincoln team is going to self-isolate for 2 weeks and has cancelled all practices/games until that time has expired.

The key is pro sports in my opinion in regards to college athletics. If the pro sports continue, so will college. High School is much different than the other two. Money obviously is huge, but also the resources that the collegiate and pro levels do.Waterloo West Softball has canceled everything for this week.
If this is the standard we're going with, I don't see how we can have any sports at all this fall and winter though there's obviously a difference between High School and College when you throw the money dynamic in.

Ok, I have no idea why. We were just at a packed (half capacity limit) water park. It was nice. Almost no one except the employees wearing masks. Happy to report still - 0 deaths. What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger, right...
I've never hit the optimistic rating so fast. You mean you went to a water park over the weekend and no one died immediately? I know you are really dense but you surely know there is an incubation period.
