NO FANS AT CYCLONE GAMES?

Dr.'s Brix and Fauci being allowed to speak and communicate basic information about the current situation, and are informing what they recommend, and why, and relaying the idea of individual responsibility as one that shows care for others.

Also thanking governors for what they've done for their work including Texas and Florida, and thanking people for coming forward to get tested that possibly think they were exposed for whatever reason.

Must be a nice feeling for them to not get interrupted with contradicting advice.

Make it a Law to wear a mask?? That is hilarious

Yeah, this is "murica....no one is going to tell me that I have to cover my cough for the benefit of others. And what's with this "requiring" people to prove they know how to drive a car....that's bull ****. And why can't I just dump my garbage in the ditch along the highway, I paid for that highway. And another thing....

That is the problem that so many people are failing to see or don't care enough to see. It's not all about you.".

Agreed. To really break this whole thread down, people are ******** about being asked to wear a simple cloth mask to cover their mouth/nose and potentially having to watch sporting events on TV instead of in person........in what world are either of those things terribly upsetting?

My parents live in south Texas and they instituted a law locally basically right away that it was a 1,000 fine if you didn't have a mask on in a public place.
I don't see why the entire nation can't do the same thing. Maybe $1,000 is too steep a fine but but I love the idea.

Masks are one of the most effective things we currently have. They should be required. Glad some states are concerned enough about the health of their people to require them.
BTW - How is your hot weather plan working out?
Hint - ask Arizona.
Cyclad, I just wanted to let you know that I am the old geezer who knows a lot about the weather. From your comments, it appears that we share the same political views. Please give your wife and your family our best wishes. We hope you are staying safe and healthy. Unfortunately, we will not be able to attend the football games this season due to my poor immunity level. I'm optimistic that an effective vaccine for the masses will be available by early next year.

We will know more in a couple of weeks. There are different explanations why just cases is a bad number to use.
1. These numbers are probably catching old cases not previously reported.
2. people that come in for other things are tested for covid and since they come to a hospital with covid, they catch it. Some indicate the testing goes on every day they are in the hospital.
3. The effects from the disease could be weakening.
4. Our citizens understand it better and the most vulnerable are staying protected, and there is a lot heavier infection among young people which have very little risk anyway.

Positive cases are up 5X since early June but hospital admission and deaths are no higher than Mid-May. There should have been a correlated spike in all of them.

Hospitalizations are skyrocketing in the worst impacted areas of Texas, Florida, and Arizona. I'm not going to do your homework for you and link to all the hospitals and public health warnings, but if you log off Fox News log enough, you should be able to find them.

Great to hear from you! I will tell my wife and family you said hello. Whatever your condition may be, I hope the very best for you. I have some “Issues” too, probably will not attend this year. Say hello to your wife. Yes, it would appear we see things the same - great minds? I find this mask “controversy” depressing. I wear a mask to protect myself and everybody I come into contact with as well. I do not want others to potentially get it from me. Seems like a lot of people do not care about others. Pretty sad.

In the world where life is cheap and black/minority life has been on clearance since forever.

Jeremy why are your deflecting? Nothing I posted had anything to do with FOX news. How about we look at numbers in 2-3 weeks and see if there is a big covid related hospital surge of patients and also whether death rates increase substantially? We should both be open to facts shouldn't we? IF cases of covid don't lead to an increase in hosptial inpatients especially ICU cases or deaths isn't that pretty important data for plannning?

Today, in Arizona inpatient covid 19 patients dropped from 2,453 to 2,110. Its only one day but why should we see a 25% drop in one day in a period of time where we are led to believe the number of CURRENT covid cases are reportedly spiking?

In the one where better than 50% of people never get an annual flu shot and one where bettter than 50% never washed their hands after using a restroom.

I don't believe the amount of resources currently being used to develop a vaccine has ever happened before.

All the money in the world being shot at a virus that can shift is like shooting a bb gun at a freight train. There is a reason why the common cold still festers every.....stinking......year.

Well if the common cold were like this perhaps we'd be giving it a little more scrutiny.

How do they define public place? Just inside? Shopping centers? Do they require them at a big park?

Not arguing, just curious as it's just a hard thing to enforce in large spaces vs. resources.

I think shopping centers and stores makes sense but say if I were at a State Park where it's easy to stay away from others imo a mask isn't needed. Maybe good to have with if stopping at an office or restroom.

I think it was any public area but especially inside.

That said my parents aren't the best source, they went to a store for the first time in 3 months this week. They went straight bunker as soon as this popped off.

I believe places like Texas, Arizona and Florida are more concerned about the first 2 weeks of July, by then we will see the impact of those under 30 who have had a spike in cases on those in the 50 plus range which have a higher probability of needing hospitalization.

They have closed down the bars in Texas and Florida for a reason.

Jeremy, here is an honest question for you. Here is two ways of looking at data in what I post below. Scott Gottlieb focuses on 5% mortality rate among 35-44 year olds in Florida. Alex Berenson take the data of the same number of deaths and estimates the overall risk among 35-44 year olds in the same location based on the population at large. Berenson uses a number of 10 times as many infected than reported. This gives an estimate of 1 in 3,000 people at large in that age group dying.

Even if you use another overall infection rate of 5-7.5X instead of 10, we are looking at a range of mortality in that age group of 1 in 1,500 to 1 in 2,250.

Which is a more relevant number to 25-44 year olds in Florida in the population at large? At the very least, why are we not getting both numbers?

It's 2020, the internet has been around for a long time. Anyone who has spent a decent amount of time on it knows exactly the type of posting you're doing and knows that the worst thing you can do with a pig is wrestle with them because you both end up in the mud. Nobody is going to engage you because there is nothing to be gained by it. You aren't gonna be convinced no matter what and anybody who tries to do so is just gonna exhaust themselves for no reason.

It's also important to note Florida doesn't report deaths that were probably covid. They only report deaths of people that tested positive.

In Chicago, its required to wear a mask in all indoor public buildings and outdoor public places where 6ft of social distancing isn’t possible. The lakefront just opened up Monday and a mask is “required“ at all times there. At most, 20% of people are abiding by that policy along the lakefront. The police aren’t enforcing it. The Mayor hired “social distancing ambassadors” to patrol the lakefront, and they basically stopped trying to enforce most of the rules by day 2. There’s just too many people and its not worth confronting every single person not following the rules. They’ve basically turned their attention to just trying to keep crowds off the beaches.
